He till sucks on my neck and chin at night . Does he misses his mom till or is he unhappy. Or is it because he can get away with it. He only does it at night. He was old enough to be taken from is mother. Does he think i'm his mom.Because his mother left her kittens one day and never came back. My boyfriend and his mother had to raise him and his three bothers. What can I do to make him stop and to make him happy with out him doing this. I thought it was cute the first time . But I want him to grow out of it. Please help and pease dont be rude . Thank you.

He follows me around everywhere and he hates eveybody but me and my boyfriend. Does he thinks I'm his mom?

Cats are comforted by this. Also your neck is one of the warmest part of your body where your artery is and he can feel your blood flow and heart beat at the same time. Getting him to stop is simply patience. Most cats do grow out of it but to help him get out of it with your hand gently push him away when he suckles but let him stay there just take your hand and gently place it on his head (face) he might suckle on your hand at first but he will stop faster on the hand. Talk to him saying no. Cats do understand the word no. They just sometimes choose to ignore it. With a little time and patience he will understand that it is not ok. It will be easier if you don't mind him snuggling in your neck at least he will still get the sense of security from the warmth of your neck and your pulse.

I work at a rescue, and we once had two 5 month old kittens. We wanted to home them together and this was done very easily, as when a man picked one up, she started sucking on his ear lobe, and gradually worked her way down to his neck. He may just like the feel of suckling on something. He may still be pining for the return of his mum. If you want him to stop, don't let him sleep in the same room as you, and whenever he does it, remove him from you and just ignore him. It sounds harsh but it is the only way forward.

I had a black cat once you though I was his mother. He followed me every where and hated my mom and sister. I just let him and in theory he should stop doing that soon Just don't let him get away with it or hell think it an all right thing to do.

First off try keeping your kitten out of your bed but if that isn't going to happen try using like noxema or some sort of mask that your cat won't like the taste of and see if this helps. You can also try giving the kitten something it enjoys to suck on as a replacement for your face. If mother ran off when he was young this is probably why.

It just means that he was weaned from his mother at too early an age. He thinks of you as his mommy now. :-) Don't worry, he'll grow out of it, although you might notice him suckling on blankets or stuffed animals when he grows up. My 3 year old cat still nurses on my elbow at night. And he has this stuffed bee toy that he nurses on and kneads. It's really cute...
In the meantime, you're just going to have to let him cry when you pull him away from you. :-(

Some kittens tend to do it more. Anytime he starts to do it tap him on the head and tell him NO in a loud voice. He will soon get the idea. He may start to suck on a blanket or some other object after that.

sounds like he thinks you are mommy. introduce him to other people with you there and he willget that these people are ok. as for the neck thing this may sound weird but put hot sauce or lemon on that area he will taste it a few times and never want to do it again

Mine does the weaning part also, but he just usually does it on the blanket. He's over two. I just tell him to stop and move him from it. He complains but gets over it. And I don't think he was weaned too early cuz his sister never did it. But my younger cat does the paw part but not the sucking, and she used to not do it.

Aww that sounds cute, but I can see how you'd get tired of it. If I were you, I'd try to give him something else to suck on, and every time he crawls up to try to suck on your neck or chin, pick him up and place him somewhere else on your bed, or gently push him away.

my cat still does that and he is 3 yrs old, i spank him not hard just a little tap on the bottom and he gets the point, since i have started spanking he isnt doing it as often
