ABSOLUTELY! But he/she is probably more honest than most that would not even consider such a thing. They might be trying to deal with a problem that they cannot handle alone and have not been able to find any answer for. Perhaps they may have come to the point of desperation if they think it is not "normal" to seek help. I don't know if this is the situation or not.

However, I've heard that the suicide rate among psychiatrists is the highest among the professions. I do not know if that is true but it makes sense to me. I do not believe that any person was ever meant to bear the burdens of everybody else partially because man was not made to have all the answers.

I have been suicidal and have attempted suicide but it was obviously not my time to go. That was when I was 19 years old, about 30 years ago. Many others have not been so fortunate. It troubles me to see so many die that way instead of turning their hearts to God. I very seriously considered going to a psychiatrist but never made the decision to do so.

I (along with many others that have testimonies of their own deliverance) have learned that there is nobody that can help more than the great Creator of all the Universes. And I know that He cares about that teenager as much as He cares for me. He has taught me that He cares for all those that decide they will believe in Him and are willing to obey Him even though we cannot be perfect. And He has taught me that His name is Jesus Christ. He is not merely a religion except to those that wish to observe mans' traditions instead of God's commandments. But is Best Friend to whosoever will come to Him humbly asking for His help. Why? Because He cares. He really does care. He has proven to me that He really does care many times over and over and over and over and over and . . . . .

I turned to God for help and He really did help me and He also has taught me many things since those days of turnoil in and around me. I know that He wants to help this teenager as He helped me. But one of the things that He said is, "you have not because you ask not." So it is important to ask Him. God bless you.

Absolutely! If a teenager recognizes that there may be things they need to figure our or share and don't feel like talking to anyone else then a psychiatris or counselor is definetely a normal option. My 9 year old goes once a month. Mainly to vent about his frustrations. He doesn't like homework, or he feels his sister is a pest. That way he can complain and let off steam in a neutral environment. I would hope that if there was really something wrong that my kids would talk to me, but having a psychiatrist can be a big help.

Normal is not really a viable quantity, unless you mean "is it common"?

If a teenager wants to see a psychiatrist then that is a probably healthy as there are many people of all ages who live in denial about issues they may have and take years to reach the point of seeing someone about it.

If a teen wants to see a psychiatrist it means that he or she has a problem and is asking for help. That's perfectly normal.

It's not uncommon, if that's what you mean, but "normal" isn't really the word for it. I think it's great for a teenager to realize at such a young age that they need help.

no, whoever this teenager is is crying out for help, he or she may be depressed but sound and up enough to know that he or she needs help, try finding out what's wrong, see what's troubling her or him before it's too late.
