K rations went away a long time ago. They were replaced with C rations, which are also a thing of the past (Thank everything you find Holy!).

Now we have MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat) which contains 3000 calories. They are increasing the variety of the meals every year and they are getting better, if only a little. Got a little water activiated heater in them to warm up your entree. Funny thing, it seems that evry single one, no matter what the meal is, it has a little bottle of tobasco in it.

There is also a new meal out called a TOTM (totem). It is a smaller version of the MRE, primarily used for training purposes.

If bought in bulk, like a pallet or a whole truck load, they aren't all that expensive for the calories you get. If you purchase them at retail single price (around 7 to 10 bucks) they ain't worth it!

The K style rations you are talking about are actually expensive to purchase. It would cost less to buy from a civilian source, than get them from the military. If you don't believe me then go purchase them yourself and find out. You can buy them at a camping gear outlet. They are called Ready to eat meals. Most don't taste very good, but are filling. I know, I've had them all when I did a tour with the Seabee's.

K rats are no more. MREs(meals ready to eat) can be found in some military surplus stores, but the vast majority of them are labled not for individual resale..meaning they cannot be sold for profit.

Why don't you start that organization yourself? Come up with a name and sell your product.
