i have been with the same guy for going on 4 years now. he used to say that we would get married as soon as we both had jobs. well we do and i bring it up and he avoids it, but if another girl hits on or even talkes to him he and his friends both them to back off b/c he's getting married!!! i really love him and i know he loves me but i dont understand why he does that? why he tells every one else we are but not me? i just dont get it.

Marriage is not about love - its about money and commitment.
and your boyfriend is just leary of taking the plunge. Its a lot
easier to get married than to get out of. If you put pressure on
him, you will scare him in the opposite direction. Most likely he
is figuring that when he is ready for marriage, you are the most
likely to fit his needs.
Marriage is designed as a protection for women and kids.
First somebody decides that they want to be married and then
they look around for the mate that they think will best fill the bill.
Dont confuse love, marriage and sex - they are only loosely
related, but are three separate things.

Marriage brings a lot of responsibilities with itself. Ask him when he will marry you. Ask him the reason for not marrying you right now.Maybe there is something he wants to do before marrying you.

If you you know that he does not cheat on you, then do not pressure him.
Or maybe it would be better, if you have a long talk with him about this. Do not pressure him, but you need to know what is going on.

Don't be so damn pushy. you are with him now, it is better to let him become ready then to pressure him to get hitched. Then he feels trapped.
