so what do fellow parents do when their kids get sand in their pants or underwear/swimwear while at the beach, sandbox, park, etc?

I wait until we're home unless it's at the beach, then I take them to the outdoor shower spout to wash off.

I've seen other moms actually put their hands down their kids stuff and get it out that way. I could never see myself doing that.

That is wrong, take them in the water and swoosh them around or take them out deeper and take the bottom off and wash them out or pull the sides out so the water washes them out. If in a sand box wait till you get home and take a bath.

The only time I would wash my child's stuff is when they dont know how, like at an infant age. Other wise, I take them to a shower at the rest room and have them wash themselves. Or bring a bottle of water with you and have them at least rinse off a little before they get in the car. Then when they get home have a good shower. If you have to wash at a outdoor shower, bring a large towel and block your child while they rinse with a little soap. That way they still have privacy.

Bring baby powder with you. It helps to get the sand off.
