What about a nice picture frame with 2 places for pictures so 1 can have a wedding photo and the other a picture of them on their anniversary day and also with 50th anniversary on it

50th anniversary is the "Gold" anniversary, so perhaps a gold photo frame with a picture from the wedding in it (not THE wedding photo, but maybe a candid if you can find one, have it professionally enlarged if needed)
Or do a nice album from wedding day to current with an empty spot for the 50th to be placed (should have gold foil lettering though to signify the golden anniversary)

A 50th wedding anniversary can sometimes be called a Golden Wedding Anniversary. For my grandparents' golden wedding we bought a basket and filled it with different gold related bits and pieces: like gold blend coffee or a gold photo frame.

WOW I can't imagine being married 50 years. They deserve a medal. The 50th anniversary flower is the Violet.

So they should be around 70 +/- . What does a person need at that age????

A subscription to that Service that provides the Alert system. You wear it around your neck and if you fall or need help you can just press the button.

Lounging clothes.

A 7 day Cruise to the Islands East of Florida.

Replace anything that needs fixing in their home.
roof, paint, big appliances.

Everyone should pool their money together and get them something really good.

No knick knacks, I'm sure they have enough.

A recent video of the original wedding party (if possible). A photo album of the couple starting from wedding til present day including family, vacations, etc. A special poem written by you. A CD mix of all their favorite songs (even from 50 years ago). There's 4 ideas - hope one of them works for you.

These people are so tacky. I would suggest a nice card and maybe a gift certificate or something. You could choose something more personal, like making them something or putting together a collage of family pictures. Maybe you could have their original wedding invitation framed, or copied, then framed. Maybe you could put together a recipe book, or another scrapbook or photo album and have friends and family write different things in it.

Well, "gold" seems to be the traditional gift, but I would only give that if you are one of the spouses of course. If you are a friend or relative, I have seen people tape fifty $1 bills folded on a poster board to shap the numbers 5-0.

Get ahold of a pic from wedding, invitation, something personal , then get creative. Re-create memories from honeymoon by setting up decorations to reimind them of when they first got moarried. or started dating, or their first car, something personal that was a first for them to share. Make a collage, or decorations, or just break out the wedding photos! Be creative and original.

Hmm..50th is gold...so something gold maybe? it would be nice if you get them an album and create a sort of a summary of pictures of how their life was from the time they were married up until now...pictures of trips, children, grandkids....:-)

50 cent coin.. hehehhe.

what about finding that wedding picture and pictures of the other wedding anniversary and put it in sort of a custom made silver frame. with that special sentence or words that only the two of you know or those nicknames both of them have made for each other engraved on the frame.
