You don't get it. People that come here illegally are not entitled to any rights, period! They are entitled to go back where they came from and should be penalized for having the nerve to disrespect the laws of this country! There should be a new law that says if someone is trying to cross our borders illegally, they should be barred from citizenship or working in this country! Citizenship in this county is a privilege, not a right. Rights are reserved for citizens of this country!
Dani, you are way off! My ancestors were from Hungary, Ireland, Scotland. They were all legal! They did not just decide they were going to come to America and run over the border illegally! When they came into the country, the government was well aware of who they were and where they came from. They had documentation and were checked out at Ellis Island with a fine tooth comb. They did not come waving foreign flags and demanding rights that they were not entitled to, but rather, were in awe of this great country and what she represented. They were willing to work and did not depend on a public welfare system for food stamps or housing. Those things did not exist at that time. They were willing not only to become a part of the fabric of America, but to give their lives for it. They came here already knowing English not demanding everyone learn their language. There is a huge gulf that distinguishes the old LEGAL immigrants and the ones running over our borders and coming through our ports ILLEGALLY! Not to mention, our national security is at stake these days. There is no way of telling who is in this country and what they are planning to do!
The only rights illegals need is the right to have the quickest bus ride back to the border and a military escort to make sure they go back where they came from! Those that break the law need not apply for a workers permit or citizenship again!

Have you looked at the rights and such of those who travel into Mexico that are not citizens? They have less rights than that of those who impose thier ideas of what their rights should be here. There are certain jobs, regular jobs, that people can not hold there! Nothing in the government either!
So then I look at the migrant workers here who do not pay taxes because they do not have the ID to do so and they take the money they worked for (I will give them credit for those who work) and send most of it back to Mexico! Then there are those who come over and just get on Welfare! I have seen it and my husband is a social worker and is FORCED to give these illegals assistance for one thing or another! They are not even citizens, have not really paid into our system and Someone wants to tell me that they deserve equal rights? You are joking right?
As for the laws always changing, that is life and the right of the people/government (to some degree). Are we to stay stagnant with our laws and not change them according to what is best? That is insain!
I think you have been sampling too many "special brownies" and dipping in the MJ! Get a clue, the rights belong to those who lawfully enter and lawfully stay. Not the idiots that come over in a boat or some van and claim they need amnesty. When we stop amnesty for every pedro, lucia and Gustof....we may actually get a handle on those who get here illegally!
Legal citizens are the ones with equal rights!

They are illegal, they deserve to be deported back to their country of origin. And until the laws change they are in effect, and must be obeyed, not dismissed because a few disagree with them.I'm nor sure if there is dignity in breaking a country's laws. They deserve to be treated as any other illegal from any country is treated.no better and certainly no worse.
Dani..My ancestors came to the New world in 1702,they were not ILLEGAL,there were No laws against immigration in this country until1924(a few exclusionary laws in the 1800s by not against mass immigration )
No laws constitute no law breaking.so you are wrong. My ancestors and most if not all of Americans were immigrants but they were legal ones. We beat the Indians in a war the land became ours,we are native born Americans. We do not come from illegal immigration.

I live in the south and everythings so race related in the white and black race, also. I believe that the Mexicans are still pissed off at the white man and the Spaniards for ******* things up! If they would have kept there asses on the other side of the world instead they decide to get in there boats and sail the sea to see what land they can take over, I say the hell with Thanksgiving! Is it called that because the white man thought, thanks for giving me your land?!! The U.S. would be all Indians if they would have stayed where god put them!! And when the Spaniards came they got together with the Indians and that is what a Mexican is!! Enough said!!!

Hmmmm. I do believe all people deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and equal treatment. I think they should be treated fairly under the law and respect the laws of this country. I think this is a frustrating issue to both sides, but when it comes down to it, we all should be treated fairly and equally, especially under the law.
I do not know how hard it is to come into this country legally and be a documented immigrant so that one could have legal identification, work, and pay taxes like everyone else, but that would be more ideal to me than the current system if it is possible.
People from all over the world come to America so they can have rights, freedom, and be treated fairly and humanely. People die trying. Seems to me America got started that way and will probably continue on that way. I do not know why people are so intolerant of immigrants when most of our ancestors were immigrants to this country. I think people are frustrated with many things in this country and so the immigrants are scapegoated in many respects.
Our current system and policy on immigration needs a lot of work. I do not think it is working for American citizens or immigrants--documented or not. I do not have any easy answers or a great plan. I do know that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights according to our constitution, meaning we ALL have those rights. That is the ideal this country was founded on and I back it 100%.

No they do not deserve equalness. If they are unndocumented they are working for money "under the table" and not being taxed. Why would we give them medical, wellfare, or even the right to vote if they don't contribute to the countries economy. I have no problem with the ones that come over legaly and register, it's the ones that break the laws and then expect those same laws to protect them and better their lives.

See equal rights imply equal responsibilities such as paying taxes, being on juries, voting, and undocumented people cant do those things. Actually and undocumented person is not an immigrant at all but just a person who is here illegally.

No, I most definitely do not agree at all. Why should someone who has broken the laws of the country have special advantages? They should go to jail is what they should do, there they can be equal with the other inmates but that is about it.

Naw dude I am sorry I think the only right they should have its the same rights as a criminal, I think it goes a little something like:
You have a right to remain silent, anything you say will be held against you in the court of law.
You have the right to an attourney(bilingual of course)
and so on and so on!
