are they better for you than white rice and why? if i eat wild rice and chicken with an apple and bottle of water for lunch is that healthy.

Wild and brown rice has more protein in it as compared to white rice. Wild rice has the highest amount of protein and fiber in it. Your lunch of wild rice, chicken, apple and water is pretty good. It provides you with carbohydrates (from rice, apple), protein (chicken and rice) and it gives you a serving of fruit, it gives you needed fluids without added calories. So it is pretty good.

Brown rice is definitely healthier for you than white rice. This is because White rice is exactly the same thing a brown rice when it is grown. The difference occurs later. White rice is brown rice with the lining stripped off of it. The original lining is full of nutrients and it also contains fiber - essential for proper digestion. Wild rice is healthy if it is not the kind that you buy in the box - you know, pre-made with the spices and things already in it... If you buy organic wild rice from a health store, it is very good for you. This is pretty much the same concept of brown &white rice, but wild rice is just a different variety. Some suggestions for really good brown rice: Brown Jasmine & Brown Bismante - Not sure about the spelling on the last one, but you should know it when you see it.

Brown rice is better than white rice because it contains the whole grain therefore is a complex carbohydrate. I'm not sure about wild rice but I'm sure it's better than white rice. That lunch sounds fairly healthy.

Brown rice is unprocessed white rice. It still has the husk on it.
Just a little bit more information to add to what others have already contributed.

White rice isn't neccesarilly bad for you, but it is bleached which makes it less healthy than wild rice.

White breads and rice have everything all bleached out of them. The wheat have fiber and nutrients in them, they flow thru your body easier and flush everything out.
Yes that's healthy.
