I have compiled a long amazon wishlist. I wanted to send it to my friends and family. I kinda thought it would be rude though, like saying "buy me something please". What do you think?

What would you think if your friend or reletive sent you a wishlist?

I was thinking about adding "Send me a wishlist too!" at the bottom of the message. Would that seem more polite?

If you send these lists unrequested, you are sending the basic message, "I don't value the time and thought that you will put into selecting a gift for me," so yes, it is rude.

However, if you are asked what you would like, especially if they mention Amazon, then you are fine, and are not being rude at all.

well, not really... yeah, asking for your friends wishlist is balancing everything out so it should be fine.
if you do send it, then they'd know what to get you and not wast their money on something you don't like or want. so..technically, you're doing a favor for everyone.

I don't think so. its kinda like helping them pick out a gift that they know that you would like.
I would just like tell them if they don't know what to get you.. then they can look at your wishlist on amazon.com

How about saying, "A friend showed me this site a few days ago, maybe you've seen it. I thought it was pretty neat. I just thought you might want to know about it!" Then if they are interested in knowing your wish list they will ask you. ;-)

well, i would send it to my closest friends. and yes, i would request for theirs in return!

you could throw in a funny line for the subject like "now you REALLY can read my mind!"

sometimes people have no idea what to get you; but you should make it clear that presents don't HAVE to come off the list and its only suggestions.
