I am recently divorced from an 8 year marriage and don't know what to do in meeting people. Friends only!!

Well, if you don't think that you can meet anyone through friends of friends, or friends of family, or whatnot, you can try online dating services. There are good ones out there, and there are bad ones.
Speaking from personal experience, I can say that EHarmony is great. I met my fiancee through that site.
37 isn't too old at all to be dating again, especially considering the divorce rates these days. There are a lot of people in your exact situation.

No, it isn't too old at all. In this day and age there are lots of other people your age that are divorced and looking for love still. The difference in being older is that you can take control of the dating scene and be smarter this time around. Just be honest with people about what your looking for and don't be afraid to tell the jerks and idiots where to get off. This is your life, your still young and have a lot of living to do so have fun.

Not at all. There are a lot of people dating in their 40s and 50s and 60s and so on. 37 is still young. The bigger question is...do you want to be on the dating scene. If so, go and have a ball.

As long as you don't get involved with 20 year olds- I don't see a problem. Just get involved in stuff, church, charities, work. Those are good ways to meet quality people and tell them that you want to just be friends. And for the record, I see nothing wrong with a friend, who happens to be a guy, paying for dinner and a movie.
I am glad that you just want friends at this point. It took me 9 months to a year after my divorce to be comfortable with my new situation. I always worry that too many people rush the healing proccess and don't get comfortable with their situations when they moved on. I was much younger than you though- 27 when I got divorced.

Nope...I got a divorce from a 12 year marriage and thought I was to old to start dating again. When word got out that I was divorced, women of all ages started to show up at my house. I was 44 at the time.

No, 37 isn't too old to get back into the dating scene. And there's nothing wrong with wanting to just have friends, instead of jumping right into another relationship. Do what is comfortable for you!

NO WAY!!!!!!! No age is too young to be dating. Get out there and have some fun! Go out with some friends and meet thier friends... Have a good time. No one to answer too can be a good thing sometimes. There are peoples grandparents out there that have dates these days. Best of luck to ya!

Do you think you are old? My Mom has been divorced twice, is 47 yrs old and still lokks drop dead gorgeous. And I'm not saying that cause I love her. I'm proud of how she looks. And she's out almost every Saturday night. Everybody is looking for love and you have just as much right as anybody else to get dressed up and go fishing. There's a man out there somewhere between 35 and 48 who is dreaming of you every night. Go find him girl.

No. My father died when my mother was 44 and she was back in the dating scene. It takes time because your not used to it, but eventually you will find someone that will make you happy in the long run. Go for it, it will make you happier than moping from the divorce.
