I have no idea where man hands is getting his information, but since Carlos Ghosn took over as CEO of Nissan, their sales have gone up ten fold, and they have been opening new plants around the world, one in Tennessee just recently. And GM is not looking to buy out Nissan, they can't even afford to buy toilet paper. If he read the news Nissan/Renault is going to give them $3 Billion dollars to help gets their @$$e$ out of the whole they are in.
To answer your question, I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra and I have not had one problem with it. I have maintained it and it still runs as stong as ever and gets 35 mpg. I am not saying toyota is bad, but nissan is no where near kia status.

toyota has been making cars since the mid 60's. nissan crept onto the scene in the late 70's ith the now defunct datsun brand name. yes nissan has the 350z, and more performance oriented vehicles, but toyota has the supra if you dont mind a used car, or the new camry se, which is reliable as heck, and gets tremendously good gas mileage. nissan also has some of the worst sales numbers for the past 5 years, and talk of a potential buyout by general motors. which would essentially mean that future nissan models would be utilizing american car company parts, completely dissolving the purpose of buying japanese and staying away from clunky, gas guzzling, american cars and trucks. BUY A TOYOTA. you wont regret it.

Overall, both Nissan and Toyota are excellent quality.
Toyota has a few more years in the american auto market than datsun/nissan.
But for overall quality VS price the Nissan is the far better choice.

I think the toyota would be better. the 350z is a nice car. But still.... i recomend toyota. But toyota is older than nissan so no toyota has more experience in making cars.

Toyota has a better record of dependablity than Nissan. This tends to be better in the long run as far as repair costs.

Supra was discontinued where have you been. Auto-week showed the new for 2009 Supra drawing. 350z Track with Brembo brakes is about the best all around sports car today.

TOTOTA, OF COURSE......Nissan has been slowly loosing it's dependability record. I would by a nissan only in front of kia.
the 350Z is gay. A stock 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT can beat it.
