It can be converted to a digital photo by using a slide scanner. However, it also depends on the number of slides that you want to scan. If it's only a few, it might make more sense to have it scanned professional...like Ritz Cameras.

Get a slide scanner, such as the Nikon Coolscan V-ED. This is a WONDERFUL piece of equipment. You'll need Photoshop or similar software to produce a print. You have a lot to learn in order to do this, if you do not already know Photoshop, though, and you might consider paying someone to do it. If you are good with Photoshop (etc), buy the scanner and knock yourself out. It's easy to set up and fairly easy to learn.

scanners such as the epson perfection series have an attachment that allows for the scanning of a slide on to a computer, from there you can print it out as a photo.
