The creation story in Genesis was a myth used by ancient people to expain the world around them. Some people feel that it was an attempt to explain a climate change that happened in the middle east about 6000 years ago. It wasn't always a desert. It used to be green and beautiful. When the climate changed, the people had to change too, or die. They were more than likely confused and didn't have the scientific understanding we have now. So someone wrote a story about a beautiful garden (the middle east before the climate change) that mankind was banned from for some sin (thus causing the climate change).

Around this time, the people in the midde east had many gods. Yahweh was originally one of their pantheon. A few dedicated worshippers decided he should be the only god worshipped and set out to demonize and invalidate all other gods. (A similar thing happened in Egypt in the reign of the pharaoh Akhenaton. But it wasn't very successful.)

Included amongst these ancient gods were Asherah (a goddess that supposedly helped women in childbirth) and Baal (a fertility god who was associated with the snake). So, it's no surprise that the writers of Genesis made Eve and all women out to be evil and fully deserving of the pain experienced in giving birth (thus invalidating Asherah) and had the snake convince her to do it (thus demonizing Baal).

In short, it's just a creation myth combined with ancient propaganda has been taken too seriously over the millenia. (There were no Adam and Eve. They are as real as Prometheus or Pandora.) And now people are killing each other over it.

Take a closer look at what the Bible says:

Genesis 5:1-5
1 This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man." 3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 5 Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.

After Cain and Able, Seth was born and so were many others, so the first part of your tirade is wrong. Your second part concerning the accuracy of the Bible completely ignores what we do know about the Bible. Finally, and I know this is in your mind when you read the Genesis 5 passage, man cannot live 900 years. To be intellectually honest, you would have to say that as far as you know, considering the recorded lifespans of human beings in the relatively recent past, man cannot live 900 years. To that, I would ask you see what biochemistry has to say in this paper by Fazale R. Rana, Ph.D., Hugh Ross, Ph.D., and Richard Deem, M. S.

can't quite make out your questions totally. however Adam and Eve had more children than were recorded in the BIBLE. many say there were different people in the world other than Adam and Eve. these were not mentioned in the BIBLE as Adam and Eve were the ones whom the chosen people could trace their bloodlines to.

No, they had 3 sons, Cain, Abel and Seth. Then Cain killed Abel and was banished, when he returned, he had a wife - WAIT!! A WIFE? Where did she come from?

But go a step farther, we had a great flood that wiped out all but Noah and his family and 2 of every creature - so that leads back to your question: "Where did they all come from?"

I think the white man came in on a UFO and are the true "aliens" of this planet. :-)

I'd like to answer your question, but I'm sure iamacatholic will get right to it. On an aside, what the heck is with people's spelling, grammar, etc? Take the extra nanosecond and re-read your drivel before posting it.

do...not...take...the...bible...literally

Each book was written seperately... each was written in a metaphoric dialect designed for the people of the time period it was written to understand. The "Bible" people take too much stock in, is a compilation of selected books. The books were selected by a bunch of MEN with agendas.

By the way, did you fail elementary english class? or what?
