Any Police Officer that says no to this question is full of **** and are not trying to do their job properly. Over the years the job of the Police has grown increasingly more and more difficult because of a number of things and one of them is all this PC Bull. But then again what can i say, look at the sort of people that are joining the Police now!!!. It wouldn't have happened 20 years ago.
That is the reason i left the Police, i had to be more careful of what i said within my own ranks. And believe this or not they even have a hot line for Police Officers to squeal on their colleagues. But as the saying goes, the public get the Police force they deserve.

The biggest PC mistake ever in UK, was changing from POLICE FORCE to Police Service. I get service from my Milkman. From my Police, the Met, I want FORCE. A body of men and women who enforce the laws of England upon the criminals.
ATTENTION: texpolice - the words PC brigade, is an English expression - it means the politically correct - those who support political correctness. A brigade is a part of an army.

As a retired Met officer (68-98) I regularly meet my serving colleagues and most can't wait to leave. Unfortunately, the police in the UK are being weakened by a policy that, instead of selecting the very BEST applicants, is trying desperately to recruit as many women, gays and ethnic minorities as possible. (This policy also applies to promotion - thus not only are we getting a sub-standard police force, it is also being managed/led by sub-standard senior officers.)
I have been told that, if you go to the Police Training School at Hendon you will find it hard to spot a white face. (I suspect that is an exageration.) Equally, those leaving the Armed Forces, a traditional source of recruits, will only be considered if they fit the new stereotype - to that end, many "straight" men are claiming to be gay!!!
This is not funny - we pay for our police officers and should demand the very best, not a politically correct bunch of people who are not necessarily up to the job.
The vast, vast majority of police officers have the very highest of motives for joining and it does no one any good to allow sub-standard people to join just because of their sex, sexual orientation or ethnic roots.
I know some will say "Answer the question". But of course, it does, because the recruitment policy is totally driven by the PC brigade and "ordinary" officers need to be able to rely on their colleagues and, if their colleagues are not up to the job, they effectively DO have their hands tied behind their backs.
Finally, if you are considering joining the Met; if you are Asian, you will be in by Christmas - if you are a straight white man, you could wait up to 4 years. Thanks heavens for the Equality Opportunities Acts.

no, if the law is applied in the right way. That is not to say we don't need more support from senior management. It would be much better if the press started reporting the facts on not just the usual old rubbish they make up. Don't believe the hype

Definitly- no common sense anymore and too much worrying on behalf of those doing the crimes not those on the receiving end.

At times I do. Not only do we have to fight the bad guys, sometimes it feels like we have to fight the administrators, city hall, and the citizens we protect.
