Why would the merciful God let the sin of Adam to be inherited?

that was the old testament, he wasn't anywhere near merciful back then, and didn't claim to be

He didn't. I believe in God. Now stop thinking about all you were taught ;read and educate yourself.Don't stagnate. Go, and reach your own conclusions
