No, because it can't, isn't, and can never work. In Britain, we can define our culture seperately from our politics, and our religion. Islam, for example, can't, because it comes as an indivisible whole. So, we can't even agree on a definition of 'culture'. I also don't like your avatar, because I am also anti-left wing. It's lefties who are the main problem.

Multiculturalism is not just a bad idea it is fundamentally incoherent. A nation is a people united by a common culture so if there are many cultures in a country that country is not a nation. Now a nation with many cultural inputs that's a different thing.
But there is a subtle balance to be achieved between integration and cultural and religious freedom. Here in the UK that balance has strayed to far towards freedom and this has had a bad result on people of all cultural origin within the UK. The problem is that the freedom of one group restricts the freedom of another. Where the practice of one set of cultural values conflicts with another precedence should be given to the native culture of the land
If a guest comes to your home and is disrespectful do you not ask him to leave?

im 100% pro multiculturalism. I live in an area where a lot of migrants have settled in the UK and i wouldnt live any other way. We have a lot of Iraqis, Kosovans and turkish as well as eastern europeans and guess what? everyone gets on fine and there is a real sense of community. Sure you get the odd idiot from every group who tries to cause trouble (the bnp often try and target the area but never get anywhere in elections)

I live in a multicultural area, and I have to say no I am not pro-multicultural. I used to be when I was younger and more ideal about the world. But It just doesn't work . There are too many stupid people out there. Just look at half the people on Yahoo answers. I think racial segregation is in the not too distant future. I don't like it, but the majority of mankind is just too stupid to live any other way.

Neither of those factors of view are certainly valid. "progression" is a relative concern - what one individual or way of existence would construe as progression won't be the comparable for yet another individual or way of existence. apart from, on condition that cultural evolution is not extra linear than the different kind of evolution, there is not any way of telling who or what's very developed than something. My opinion of multiculturalism is this: it truly is a superb suited in terms of political prepare. it truly is superb to think of that a single society can incorporate many diverse cultural worlds and that those communities ought to all get alongside jointly. And it is not in any respect impossible! on the different hand, multiculturalism - this is, a sort of political party of distinction and inclusion even with that distinction - would functionality a sort of ideological cover up for the persistance of violence and inequality between cultures, because it has contained in the U.S. and contained in the U.ok. case in point, British television demands that a definite variety of accents and epidermis colours be represented in each television software. this could be a superb concept, yet racial and social minorities nonetheless often seem in stereotyped roles in those courses. See what I recommend?

I am not in favour of multiculturalism.
I live in one of the most ethnically mixed areas in the country, and I've just come home and sat down after 2 hours on my hind legs shaking a tin for Amnesty International. That's the charity that helps prisoners of conscience throughout the world. Prisoners of conscience are those imprisoned simply for what they believe. You really can't say who will donate - old, young, black, white, even the illegal Albanian cigarette sellers put some money in my tin.
The reason I'm against multiculturalism is it re-enforces nationalism, racism and religion, all of which encourage us to believe that our particular group is better than all the other groups. An African lady came up this afternoon and enquired anxiously if Amnesty helped Christians.
"Sure" I replied "Amnesty helps anyone who is in prison for their beliefs, including Christians"
This obviously worried her. "Anyone ?" she asked. Apparently she has a Christian friend in "an Arab country, who is in prison simply for being a Christian" It became clear that she had heard of Amnesty, because they are helping her friend with a letter writing campaign. But she thought the charity was just for Christians, and was not sure if she wanted to donate if the money was going to non-Christians !
Eventually she overcame her scruples, bless her, and donated £1. But that suspicion of, and unwillingness to help or even think well of other groups is typical of multiculturalism, and I'm sick of it. You live here, work here, pay your taxes here, send your kids to school here - you're a Brit, end of story. If you don't want to be a Brit, choose somewhere else and apply to emigrate.

I am Pro Multiculturalism. I live in a heavily racially mixed area. Come on lets go to the Mexican Fiesta, then we will go to the Southern Cotillion, then to the American birthday party. etc. My surrounding have well rounded me to accept, and respect other cultures.

No. I have moved from Glasgow south to the East end and I like it better. When I took a south-bound bus from the city centre I was often the only native on the bus. Things were different before Labour got in (pre-1997). East European gangs now smuggle guns, women, etc in to the south side and appear to be untouchable. I'm voting BNP at the next election.

I am muslim, african, have lived in several countries, currently based in Londonin an "all-white" / upperclass area, have schooled in a catholic school and loved it, my daughter goes to a catholic school and comes home and i teach her about Islam and accepting her religion as well as any other person's belief, in respect and in dignity. I am fasting as it is currently Ramadan, but if my little daughter wants to celebrate Christmas, so be it, i will get a christmas tree. My best friend is christian and i was her wedding witness. What is the problem as long as you keep your belief in your heart and you do good around you??
I think the same way Nature is beautiful because of its diversity (mountains, rivers, plains, deserts, oceans, seas, forests), the same way, diversity in Huam being is beautiful and should be celebrated.

We are already multi-cultural. As a result, the USA has developed its own culture. Just look at the music we have. Most of it is a mixture of ethnic groups. Rock-n-Roll, came from the south, mainly from black rhythm Blues, and gospel, with a little bit of deep south white ballads and stringed instruments. Jazz came from mainly black, white, and Latino music. Most of the technology used in Hip-hop and rap come from ballads that were not sung, but rhythmic words set to music. Look at our food. Most Americans enjoy a vast variety of food styles, like Mexican food, Chinese food, Italian food, etc. In literature, we have Mark Twain, Alex Haley, Carlos Castaneda, etc. This is the beauty of being an American; that we have so much to choose from. Other countries like our culture. We are in demand, even if the other people do not understand the words.
