It depends on how you lost it. If you lost it due to illness (a cold or flu), then maybe a day or two. If you lost it due to overuse or injury, then it could be longer, maybe a week, depending on if you rest it or not.
Either way, rest your voice - use it as little as possible. Gargle with warm salt water every couple of hours, and if you are near a health food store, either get some Fisherman's Friend lozenges or buy some powdered slippery elm root and mix it with honey and a little warm water. You can eat the paste and it will soothe your throat and help it heal. If you don't like the taste, add a little cinnamon.
Warm tea with honey and lemon is also good. (I add whiskey to mine, but I'm over 21.)

Don't know how long. Drink lots of liquids. Hot tea, green is best if you like it and honey is very soothing to the throat. Warm chicken broth also. Chicken soup is jewish penecillin, it has chemicals in it that helps colds and id soothing. Also, if you hate tea, you can heat a cup of water in microwave and out 1-2 tablespoons of jello in it, stir and it is very soothing to the throat. Hope you are ok soon.

Really it all depends on how and why you lost it. You can gargle with warm water with a table spoon of salt in it, or if it hurts, suck on throat lossenges. If you have other symptoms you should see a doc.

What if you didn't lose it? What if it ran away instead, and it's never coming back?
