Lame just means pathetic.
Like, for example - if one was to say they can't go out because of a crap excuse, you could also say 'don't be so lame'
Or - if someone was to say something like, 'you are lame look at yourself in the mirror - duh' - that, would be classed as a 'lame' comment. Which - indeed, it was.

What it means depends on the context - "my horse is lame" means my horse has a problem walking because one leg/foot isn't working. "That's a pretty lame excuse" means nobody is really going to believe it because you just made it up and you didn't make it very plausible e.g. "I can't go out with you tonight I have to re-organises my toothpick collection" "The dog ate my homework" etc. You might also be referred to as a "lame brain" - someone lacking in the brain department. Basically though, the general theme is that if something is lame it isn't working properly, its just limping along - not really straying too far from the original meaning when you think about it. Language is ever changing and meanings become blurred - after all our parents looked forward to going out and having a gay old time ....(that is, if you are my age they did)

Lame meaning that you likely did something stupid or had as strange response to something. They don't mean to be harsh, they are likely just messing around with you. (joke)
