The Canada Shop at 27 Maiden Lane, off Covent Garden, sells Super Nibs and Strawberry Twizzlers, which may be what you're seeking. If you're not in London you can order it online.

Have a look at www.aquarterof.co.uk. They sell all sorts of old fashioned sweets but in quarter kgs not quarter lbs!! Also if you live anywhere near Seaton Delaval, Northumberland the Crescent Cafe sells all sorts of wonderful sweets. Otherwise I'm all out of suggestions. I do hope you get some and that it is every bit as nice as you remembered!!
