It means we are spiritual beings, as God has no physical form, so it clearly doesn't mean we are like him physically. He is both male and female, and in genesis it says he made woman, the pinnacle of his creation, because without a woman, the man was not complete. Men don't get that!

Jesus said "he who has seen me has seen the father also", John 14:9. Obviously he didn't mean that they were one and the same, but was implying that he mirrored God's qualities so perfectly that he was in a sense the 'image' of God. We too although imperfect have the ability and potential to demonstrate those same qualities, such as love, mercy, kindness and justice in our lives. In that sense we can be said to be in God's image. Unfortunately we're a pretty poor reflection.

Probabaly that god has split personality syndrome, on a less sarcastic note I believe it refers to the fact that we are created from the ideology of humanity, with ragard to the fact that we as human beings are care takers, given a position of intelligence to help each other and the planet...guess it also means that god doesnt mind being let down, for as a human race we failed big time

feel as though we are made in GOD'S IMAGE by having a soul and spirit. there is nothing saying GOD has a physical body and seriously doubt that HE does. the physical body ( container ) we have is needed to move around on this particular plane of existence but may not be needed on other planes.

We were actually created by ETs. We are hybrids of the ETs and the native human population created through genetic engineering. The ETs were looked upon as "gods" with their technology. Thus we have "being made in God's image." It also explains the "missing link."

No one has seen God. Not the physical appearance so we don't know. We assume we are similar to him since we are created in his image.

The idea that we're made in God's image doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in God.

It means we have a divine spark within us.
It's like "the kingdom of heaven is within" concept... that's what God's image is, we all have a little bit of Him in us, since he created us. It's just that most of us don't recognize it.
