How can you claim that an atheistic life is pointless when you place all importance on a 2,000 year old dead man?
Since so many of you are so fond of Pascal's wager take a look at it from another angle. What if YOU are wrong? What if there is no god or afterlife. If you waste your one chance to do anything of substance on wishing for an afterlife, doesn't that remove all meaning from the one life you know to be true for certain... namely this one?
The atheistic outlook, in which one lives one life and then is extingushed forever, seems to be much more meaningful in this respect. You have one life, it shouldn't be wasted.

Truth seeker:
Don't you find it sad that if you didn't have the Jesus influence in your life you would be a nihlist?
You can't find any inspiration in life besides an ancient myth?

Atheism doesn't claim to be complete truth. It is an adherence to reality. Chrisitanity does however claim to be complete truth, but without merit.

I agree. If you have to die before you get your reward (eternal life) all you're ever going to get is dead.
Religions selling salvation and eternal life are the perfect con.
Your life now is the only chance you get, make the most of it.

First of all Jesus is not dead but very much alive. Secondly, I do not consider the life I am living to be a waste. In fact, I am thoroughly enjoying myself. If I choose to live it differently than you do makes it no less meaningful than yours. When this body dies I am certain that I will step into eternity and continue my life not start my life or start a new life.
So in answer to your question if you are right and I am wrong then I will have lived a wonderfully fulfilling life full of substance and joy that has come to an end. Might you ponder the same question. What if I am right and you are wrong? What if God does exist? What if there is an eternity with only two destinations heaven or hell? What if that destination is determined in this life and cannot be changed.
Before you judge the gospels why don't you read them, for yourself. Not what a church says or what a preacher says but what the word of God says. Jesus came and died so we might live. I am sorry that the church is so judgmental. Jesus said to judge not, but many seem to forget or mistakenly think it is their business to try and fix others when they should be working on their own issues. May you continue to seek answers in your life journey.

First I want to tell you that Jesus isn't dead. He died on the cross for your sins and my sins. He was the ultimate sacrifice that God required for us to obtain forgiveness and eternal life.
He lives and is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And yes, He is the most important thing in my life.
Pascal's wager. Ok. This is a human idea. I don't place faith in any human. I must ask you, what if Pascal is wrong?
How can my life be waisted when It is made happier and better by my Lord? Also, I even get another better one. The one that is forever with God.

Christ is the epitome of life, that is why He came, to save us from being thrown like unwanted garbage into the fire.
Christ humbled Himself to take flesh to save flesh. It is like if God was man, and man was dog, will you as man humble yourself to be a dog to save other dogs?
If you believe you are nothing, then you are nothing. You are what you believe. You don't even ask why and how your gray matter inside your skull is able to ask questions or think. Or where your voice come from.
You were born for a reason. All those so-called atheists
they have all the mark of God's handprints of creation. If they do not have a navel or a belly button, and if they do not have mothers, and they just popped out of the ground or a test tube out of their own will, then there is no God. They cannot even control their own heartbeats at their own will from their own bodies. So who are these arrogant and ungrateful mortals think they are?. They are human wastes of the of the human race and spiritual waste of the spiritual world.
One more thing, will you as a person reward another person or persons for their thanklessness and ingratitude? If no, well, so will God.
Think of this really hard. If you do not have a shadow, then there is no God.

All your "what if" is so negative... but what if there's really a God and afterlife..??? and if you believe, it might change your life for the better?? This one life that you talk about!!
I used to think like you, but i realise that if we all can believe in "not having", why not believe that there is one (God) since we have nothing to lose..
and even christian do live a meaningful life.. a life more abundantly..and christian don't just thinks about afterlife!! which church did you learn that from..?? Time to explore into another church teaching..The right teaching is very important... I'm sorry that the Christians around you gives such poor impression...

32And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets, 33who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. 35Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. 36Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. 37They were stoned[f]; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— 38the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.
39These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. 40God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
(Hebrews 11 (New International Version))
"As you grow in the Lord you begin to understand truth and get an insight into life that the world knows nothing about. Despite all the proud, pretentious claims of secular minds to understand science, art, literature, history and the things of men, they are still afflicted by a profound blindness of which they are unaware. That is why the world is always in a mess. Politicians cannot solve that mess. The Democrats, the Republicans -- even Jesse Jackson -- cannot solve these problems. There is an understanding of life revealed unto babes that is hidden to the wise and the prudent. As you approach the Scriptures through the door of the mind of Christ that is what you will find.
First, you will find salvation. That means not only the new birth, a new life, eternal life, but it primarily means salvation from a wasted life. When Billy Graham came to the Cow Palace in San Francisco in 1958 we ran busloads of young people to the crusade. Following a great meeting one evening I sat on the bus on the return trip beside a young man who had gone forward. I said to him, "I don't know what this means to you, but one thing you can be sure of: It means you don't have to fear death any more." I will never forget what he said in reply. He told me, "You know, I don't fear death. I don't think I have ever been afraid to die. What I am afraid of is that I will waste my life." I was happy to assure him that that is exactly what the Lord would save him from if he walked with him.""

I don't think your life is pointless, family, and frienships hold great meaning in and of themselves.
but just a slight correction - we don't believe Jesus is dead, we beleive he is very much alive.
But in the name of your wager, IF I am wrong, and my death really is the end of me, then I've still had a good life with a wonderful family and friendships that have been very meaningful.
best wishes

First Jesus is alive.
If there is no God, which I do not believe, what would be wrong with living your life as Jesus said to. Being kind to others sounds real scary to me!
