It takes belief in God and being able to see where God is and what he's doin in your life, even in your most miserable times he's carrying you and will until you can walk on your own again, but he will always be by your side to catch you when you fall.

Prayer is the greatest thing, and of course reading the word, especially Psalms, but I have discovered journalling, and I love it. It keeps me focused and I feel like I'm right there having a conversation with Jesus when I'm writing a letter to Him. Counting my blessings, and writing down stray thoughts in a little notebook in my purse help me then and later on too, when I go through it about once a week.
PS this was a good question, look at all the answers. So far not one smart aleck or derogatory remark.

I view everything, good or bad, as an experience. And I don't value one over another, typically. I tend to laugh about some of the bad times I've experienced, and make jokes about them. And often people around don't understand how I can have such a positive outlook about them.
The reason I have a positive outlook is because every good or bad experience gives me another story to tell. It's a slice of life that I had the opportunity to experience, that many other people won't.

The whole thing is a kind of Boot Camp. All of us, to one degree or another are at various stages of development. So, when I've been faced with things that would crush an average human being, what's kept me going is what I might find on the other side of it. Also...
Love and Trust are the two things that have kept me going through it all. Love and Trust in myself and the great unknown.

I try to look on the bright side of things even when it is hard to do that. I am thankful for my friends and family and all the things I have in my life, such as my car, my house my job ect. I try to treat people the way I would like to be treated and at the end of the day I take a moment to reflect and say thank you to the higher power for giving me another day to live.

When things are bad I remember that "this too, shall pass."
"None of us knows what the next change is going to be, what unexpected opportunity is just around the corner, waiting a few months or a few years to change all the tenor of our lives."--Kathleen Norris I love this quote because it reminds me that you just never know what the future holds. Life is a mystery to be lived and it is exciting!

It sounds corny, but I really am grateful for every day I have, and for my friends and family. To me, it's all about the people around me. Of course, a scathingly brilliant sense of humor helps.
