i need to buy a gift for my blind aunt who i will be visiting in india. she does not know braille, nor does she listen to american music. so braille books and music CDs are out. i feel clothes are so generic of a gift. i've given her perfume in the past.

i would love to hear a great, special suggestion that would make her day! she is a very special person but had such bad luck because of her eyesight. she is married and has two daughters (one is in college and one in high school). she usually lives by herself at home while her husband is at work.

i'd appreciate your answers...please, no sarcasm here - this is a sensitive topic.

Books on tape! She doesn't need to know braille, but can still enjoy excellent literature!

If she doesn't have a tape player, you can get them for not too much...It might also be a neat way for you to communicate with her in future. Instead of writing a letter, you can make a recording for her, and then she can hear a loving voice from far away. Her daughters might also take advantage of this, and send her audio messages, as well.

Books on tape/cd.
If she has music she does like, batteries to operate the stuff. I go through tons on batteries every week.

How about taking her out for dinner? Or a spa day? Manicure & pedicure day? Massage day? Somebody to read her poems? Or even better yet - a walking guide dog?

If they have audio books (books on cd or tape) in India maybe one of those. You could clean up for her and take her to dinner. Be creative.

if you are creative:
learn how to crochet/knit, and make her a blanket.
write her a poem.
write/compose a song (if you know how to play an instrument).

How about a dildo. U can get them in palika bazar, delhi. She won't need any braille for that.
