Sure, it makes for a great marriage (going 7 years now) and awesome kids (they can see that their parents are closer than close). I think that in today's rat race marrying your best friend is one of the soundest & safest decisions you can make.

It depends on your age and readiness for a serious relationship. If you are a teenager, for example, you may want to wait because if you break up, then your friendship may be destroyed. If you are late 20s or older, it may be okay because some people end up marrying their best friend. It makes for a good marriage to be best friends, whether or not you started out as best friends.

Its best to get to know people before you date them because then you know so much about who they are and what they mean to you. So yes its okay as long as its casually time paced and not rushing because rushing leads to mistakes and then its over. But if you dont then thats still okay but if you do meet someone get to know them for who they are because a lot of people display the opposite of who they are.
