We have been at Polk for five years and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Yes it is true that there is not alot around here but it is a relaxed atmosphere, with super nice people. The schools are very good(I teach). If you have any specific questions I would be willing to answer them.

I was stationed at Ft Hood from 1989 to 1997 and have been to both bases since then. You will be closer to more things to do at Ft Hood. Ft Polk was pretty much a stretch from anything. Texas was a little nicer too.

Holly:

When I was stationed there, we referred to it as "Fort Polk, Lousy-anna. If you have the choice, stay at Fort Hood. You already have an established routine there.

i go with the judge's opinion. in louisianna there is not much there and you will find things less convenience than in texas. also with flights to other states, will need to do a fair drive to the airports. no fancy hotels or anything like that either. but is kind of more quiet and everyone is in the military somehow. hehe.

I lived their years ago when my dad was in the Army. Nice people, clean living and good schools. Good luck!

Choose Ft. Hood!

Hood is huge.

Polk sucks, really, really bad.
