I have never heard of a reason why it can't be done; I always put unopened cans of fruit in the fridge. I like ALL my fruit to be cold before I eat it.

I keep unopened cans of certain food items in my refrigerator. i.e., Tuna, Cranberry Sauce., but not for very long......
=================================
Food poisoning is frequently caused by bacteria from food that has been poorly stored, handled or cooked. Food contaminated with food poisoning bacteria may look, smell and taste normal. If food is not stored properly, the bacteria in it can multiply to dangerous levels.
Food that comes in packages, cans and jars can become high risk after you open it. Food should not be stored in open cans.

try this... put it in the freezer. then when frozen, dip in for a few seconds in boiling water. then remove the top and bottom of the can. andpush/plop it into a blender. Assuming it's with heavy syrup... then blend then put the mush into a bowl and instant Sorbet! Sweetened with 'sugar' and everything.
I use to do this a lot with cans of pears.. my kids loved it.

No.
In fact, if it is something you like to eat cold, like fruit cocktail, then it will be all ready when you take it out and open it so that is a good idea at times.

Don't know, but I've always heard that too, with any can of food. Also not to buy dented cans from the store. I always figured it was something to do with botulism, don't know why I thought that lol.

I don't think so, could it impart some kind of metallic taste to the fruit?
