i have a blind aunt that lives in india and i'll be visiting her soon. what kind of a gift besides clothes would you suggest i give to her? its so hard to think of something that would be special to her. i wanted to give her something that appeals to her other intact senses so i gave her perfume once. but now i can't think of anything.

clothes are boring (she doesn't really even go out that much). and she doesn't listen to american/english music.

i'd really appreciate any good advice/suggestions.

thanks!

Wow, you are so sweet.
Yeah, it might be a good idea to get her something that appeals to her other 4 senses. You could try classical music, because she doesn't listen to English or American music. Classical music is great for relaxation, and souths the soul. I would get her Mozart or Greig.
You could also try the perfume again. get her bath salts, or something of that sort.
Something special to her. even though she can't see, you could give her a picture of the two of you together. If you made her something, like a bag, a scarf, etc. she would feel special. Maybe you could get her books on tape, in her language, This way she could enjoy the beauty of reading, through audio.
Another couple ideas: A musical instrment. A guitar is easy to play without seeing. She can tune it to her hearing, and play to her ear. This is not dificult.
I am sure that your visit would be the most beautiful, and special gift that you could give her.

I wish you safe travel, and have a good time! Say hello to your aunt for me, allright?? lol

take care, now.

Why not take her books on tape, then she can listen to some really good books. We used them for my mother when she became legally blind. I have a friend who is blind, and he listens to them too. You can get just about any book on a tape. Good luck to you. And to your aunt. It is a terrible thing to be blind.

Maybe YOU could read a book on tape for her or maybe you could read some stories on tape for her. I did this for a friend of mine who is blind and she REALLY was surprised. You might think about Chicken Soup for the soul books.
