It's all politics. To do it would cost companies money since they would have to modernise their equipment. They make the excuse that global warming is caused by natural causes, which is partly true, but no excuse

Sure, it would be easy to stop global change. As easy as eating less food to loose weight. As easy at quitting smoking. As easy as giving up a high paying job in an air conditioned office to live on a farm and do hard labor in the hot sun all day. As easy as not having children to reduce overpopulation. There is no reason things have to change. If we wanted, we could keep things the same for ever and ever. I want things to be like they were when I was 4 years old. No problems. Mom and dad took care of me and I didn't even have to go to school. Why couldn't that have lasted forever?

Are you going to stop using your gas-burning car? Are you going to ask everyone else to do it? Are you going use less water and electricity and consumables?
You're absolutely right that these changes, in theory, could be very easy to make. But in practice, they are nearly impossible. We all just have to do our best to lead by example and realize that even a small step in the right direction is worth taking.

It's simple economics. If reducing carbon emissions would make money for the rich, our government would do it. Industry and power are larger contributors than transportation. I take that back. Transportation needs to be added to the "Fossil fuel retrieval, processing and distribution" for a total of 25.3%. Damn, I guess it is the "hummer driving looneys."

First, global warming as we see it now is not an inevitable
geological/metrological transition. It is happening much too
fast to be natural. There is something we as a collective species of human beings can do about it though and that is to
modify our industries to drastically reduce carbon dioxide(CO2)
emissions. The danger of waiting is that this effect may reach
a point of no return where we, as a species, will be helpless
to prevent the final consequences. Those consequences will
be death to the human population on a scale that will dwarf
the Black Plague. There could ultimately be death to quite
literally, billions.
Second, it will take a political iron will and determination to effect these necessary changes and it will not come from the anti-science mentality of G.W. Bush. I am an American and he does not represent me. (May I remind the non American participants that Bush did not win the voting majority in his first election. He only won in his second election because of an American tradition of voting for the incumbent in the middle of a war. Furthermore,
very few of us own a Hummer or gas guzzling vans and SUV's.)
Bush only cares about protecting the monetary interests of the very wealthy. This is his, and the republican party's, financial base. It requires a substantial amount of money to win national elections. And he and the republicans get it from the wealthy. Supressing CO2 emissions would cut into corporate profits. Republican congressman pass laws that tend to maximize corporate profits and therefore avoid passing necessary laws to supress CO2 emissions .
But Bush and his republicans also need a large voting
population. That's why he panders to the Christian Fundamentalists. They are large in number, ignorant,
prejudiced and have a missionary need to impose their own
moral values on the rest of us . They are led by the nose by
their selfish theocratic/political leaders such as Pat Robertson
who have a symbiotic relationship with Bush and his republicans.
So Bush loads the Supreme Court with conservative judges
who favor laws on behalf of the Christian right and republican
congressman pass such laws.
Third, why do the poor Christian Fundamentalists and the
wealthy not care about global warming and a human catastrophe? As mentioned earlier, the Christian is kept ignorant about the real dangers of global warming and those who have some idea about it are convinced by their religious leaders that God will save them. The wealthy don't care because they will
always have enough money to resettle towards safe areas and afford scarce resources and leave the rest of the population to wither.
Fourth, with regard to the little man and what he/she can do
about it; stay aware and informed. Be prepared to argue the
case convincingly with your colleagues. You will all be voting soon. There are political leaders who care about this for the
sake of the massive populace. Just read Al Gore's book,
"Earth in the Balance". And he is only one of many honorable
statesmen who sincerely care enough to do something about
Global Warming. You might join extremist political parties and
activists such as the Greens or Green Peace but bottom line,
a vote for people in such a party is wasted. They can't and
don't get elected. Your best chance for getting laws passed that
will bring about suppression of CO2 emissions is
by loading Congress with Democrats and electing a Democratic
president.

No evidence to support human induced change.
They can't predict the weather next week, how can they predict it 100 years from now?
All their predictions are based on computer models, not climatic trends and scientific data. Speculation is speculation.
