If you get the latest 16X or 18X DVD burners, the average time to burn a data DVD or a movie (excludes the DVD processing time) is about 5 - 10 minutes. It is a lot faster than a couple years ago when DVD burners were just burning a rate of 2X to 4X.

Don't be impatient! It used to take a worrying 25 minutes to burn a CD at double speed. Worrying because there was no buffer overrun protection, drives were double speed (thats CD speed not DVD speed which is approximately 5 times faster) and software was about as reliable as a British Mars mission!

It all depends how much you have put on it, a little a short time, a full disc about 24 minutes.
