What about pets? Hmmmm? They don't love? I mean, it's not the same, but it's pretty limiting to say that the only love out there is between humans. All kinds of connections are made every day, in all kinds of ways.

Besides, the love you have while you're alive is pretty much all you get, anyway, unless you somehow get another go-round. But you wouldn't necessarily remember the first time around, would you? You're pretty much stuck with the here-and-now. It's not just an atheist condition--it's a human condition. So make the best of what you have because there's uncertainty for *everybody*, even if you *believe* otherwise. Nobody can be 100% certain about life after death!

Our fragility should make our experience *stronger*, because we only get one shot and we can't afford to have regrets and missed chances. If you think you get chance after chance, you might reason, well, if I screw up this time, there's always *next* time, and then I'll get it right! Procrastination is not an option when it comes to love, to life in general.

But many people think it is. Too bad, really.

Remembering that romantic love is not the only example. Parental love, friendship love, community love, love of the earth, love of pets, love of life itself. The individual components are fragile, to be sure, but it doesn't mean that when one component fades, the entire emotional connection to the planet, the people, and to ourselves dissolves.

So because we dont believe then we are not able to love? or do I misunderstand the question?
Love is fragile for everyone, not just the non-religious.

Real love is hard to shake. If it's easily broken, then someone did not love a person or was loved by someone that deeply.
