Buenos Dias! You need to practise a little every day, for about 20 minutes or so. I'm learning Spanish as well, and only on my 3rd lesson, and not doing too badly. Keep it up!

You will need to stay in the country for at least three months, otherwise you will never learn the language thoroughly enough to remember.
I speak Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch, English and German but it is hard keeping them up-to-date. You need to keep on reading, speaking and studying all the time.

spend some time with the natives.
I did an exchange visit in my teens... it was my first year of Spanish, and a but scary but i quickly understood the majority of what was said to me... even if i didn't have the confidence to speak too much. Its still the best way to learn
it didn't improve my Spanish spelling tho... ah well.....

Don't despair - you're only as good as your teacher. However, if you're going to adult education evening classes, then now IS the time to despair. Hahahahahahaha!
No te desesperes - todo depende de la calidad del profesor. Ahora bien, si atiendes clases nocturnas de la educación para adultos, entonces si es hora para que te desesperes. Jajajajajajaja!
