I say no. I made one once... and it was edible, but because the baking powder became activated getting 'wet', the clock started 'ticking', and it turned into the sorriest looking cake ever made. I even took a picture of it, it was so funny looking.
Don't waste the mix, it CAN be eaten, but I wouldn't serve it to guests.

Not for more than 24 hours. Why? The eggs and oil and stuff will start to separate from the batter and form a layer on top of the mixed dry ingredients. The eggs are going to be bad, and the cake will taste horrible. It works the same way with pancake mix, this is how I know you wouldn't want to eat it...

Yeah; but no longer than a couple days because even though the eggs are in the batter, they still can go bad within' a few days! Make sure to keep it covered also, either in a bowl with a lid, or stick a piece of foil over the top !

The same ingredients are in pancakes and I have Bisquick pancake mix that says you can store the batter in the refrigerator for up to 3 days...so I would say you can do the same for cake! Just make sure you stir it well, because the ingredients will start separating, and if you just dump them in the cake pan...your cake won't turn out too well!

My only concern about making the batter so far in advance is - - the baking powder will react and will not rise right.. Making the batter separately would be better It does not take that long to do the mixing

unsure.. cake mixes are fussy...
it's best to make it when you're ready to bake it.
the cake may fall.... ? condensation may effect the mix itself and make the baking process less than perfect.
unsure... all i know is all those who mention this get the same answer where i'm conserned so i go by the saying "when you make it, bake it!"
experience seems to say no don't let it sit too long if at all.

I think just overnight, but not longer.
I would say no more than 12 hrs. Maybe even shorter.
