There is a never a 'right' answer to that question. But in Ireland we slurp them off the shell raw and swallow them whole with Guinness. They make the best aphrodisiac in the whole world. Ask the sheep around Clarinbridge.

I love Oysters, and I ustu swallow them all the time, but one time one was very big and it felt like my throat was stretching and the oyster cam back out, it was way to big to swallow, so know I chew them, Which I have been told that its actually the correct thing to do.
I eat them with Tapatio, lemon, and Salt mmm! oh and a corona on the side.
My husbans family come from a place in mexico, where their main dishes are Seafood, so I trust them in knowing when they say that the correct way to eat an oyster is to Chew, plus, they really do taste better!
me, Best answer. trust me on this, I eat 1dozen oyster every weekend. I love them! i've been eating them since i was 15 am 24 now

What's the point in eating them if you don't chew. I personally like to suck an oyster out of the shell and squeeze it against the roof of my mouth with my tongue and swirl it around my mouth. Then give it a a couple of quick chomps and then swallow.

if they are raw they need to be swallowed as the oyster being whole makes the digesting process easier. If they are cooked chew them....a lot of people say not to cook oysters but I really do not understand why because they are delicious

It's down to personal taste. I tried oysters for the first time last week. The first one I tried swallowed and didn't really taste much apart from slimey salt. The next one I chewed, and realised that they taste like muscles, and slimey salt! Didn't do much for me but definitely better to chew in my opinion.

I have never eaten an oyster but usually when I see people eat them on TV they are swallowed whole by tipping the shell upwards and throwing the head back so that the still alive creature slithers down the throat. Yeok!!

You should squeeze a little lemon juice on the oyster and slip,
or slurp, it down your throat directly, without chewing. I have never
tried this but was always disgusted watching my father doing it
and I find it disgusting.

i have tried them both recommendations, swallowing became better suited, yet i do compared to them. highly now when you consider that acquaintances of ours were on holiday contained in the Florida Keys in April and that they had them and her husband got here living house truly ill, became contained in the well being facility for a month and died from bacterial poisoning from only undesirable one out of dozen raw oysters. You not in any respect recognize...................

I would assume it is up to the person eating them. I like oysters but never chew them. To each his own.
