I did exactly the same thing when I had a Mother and her babies who all had been abandoned in a roasting pan with a dishtowel over them and my boyfriend at that time brought them all to me and told me they would need a a place to stay for a while. I wasn't working at the time and love animals and I was in the terrible throes of a drinking binge. Sarah (Mom) and the babies were around padding all around my house for a few weeks while they were nursing. Sarah would only come out to talk to me when she took a little break from the kids each day. Finally (too soon for me) they were "done" nursing from their mom and started on kitty food and it was time to take them for adoption. I did not even get in the door at the local animal shelter people were coming up to me at the entrance and just adored them and one by one took them home. I was practically hysterical for having to say goodbye to them all. I ended up keeping the mother and one of her kitties who grew up and gave me years of love. Animals have this way of working our hearts, don't they? What I might suggest to you is when you (or your boyfriend) give a puppy away, stay in touch with the new owner and keep tabs on how your "baby" is doing. That's what it is: you feel protective of this little dependent creature. Obviously you have to let them go but I'm sure you would feel better if you were able to keeo tabs on them.

awwwww...I feel for you ,I do......It's because you have a big wonderful caring heart and the cats have become part of your family. I think that you should stay involved in finding the kittens good homes it will help knowing you helped find good homes for each of them, but have the hubby close by so you have a shoulder to cry on. in time the crying will ease.... a suggestion....try to stay in touch with the families that adopt the Kitty's perhaps it will help 'the empty nest 'syndrome.

You should definitely let you husband take care of the rest of the homing of the kittens.

When my cat had kittens, I had to keep all four of them because they had been with me for eight weeks and it was too painful to let them go. They are eight years old now! I really feel for you over this. Keep your chin up. I would never let a cat breed again. It is too upsetting to let the little ones go. Good luck.

Yes- that's a good idea. But you should be happy for the kitties if you can't take care of all of them. They would probably thank you for giving them to someone who will give them a good home.
My kitty Rosina was found along a county highway. My kitty Figaro was abandoned by his mother.
Your kittens could have it a lot worse so rejoice that they will be in good homes!
Cheer up (that's an order!) and have a great day!!! (that's an order too-lol)

You separated a family, even though it's only a cat family, and it's sad. It would upset me to take away a baby from it's mama. Definitely let your husband do the dirty work.

He was not "only a cat". Once you feel a connection with a pet, you are hooked. It shows that you loved him and were responsible or him and now he's gone (to a new home).
You feel a void and most loving pet owners feel the same way. It's a good thing..

Because you have a soft heart. Maybe hubby should be the one to see them off. Give them kisses and then walk away.
