How come in Ohio independent homeschoolers can only take the GED test?

It shouldn't. The SAT's are really what they look at, and I think you can sign up at any public high school for it.

Well, I have a daughter who scored quite high on SAT and never even bothered with a GED, and has been on the Dean and President List for each semester in her three years at a 4-yr school in CT. You can go online to take many tests that go into the portfolio you submit to colleges outside of Ohio. Geography does not have to be a barrier.

Actually that is not true! Your child can take the SAT. I am from Ohio and we have been advised not to let our children take the GED. The GED makes them look like they are not well educated. NOOOO to the GED and you need to get more info on this. There is a yahoo group that you can join called INCHES it is a group out of Columbus Ohio but it will be very informative for you to join. Even if you never get together with this group you can get lots of support and answers right online.
