After last Sunday's church service I got to thinking. The pastor is right. He read verse after verse of things I can see happening right now! He made reference to the war in Iraq, the fall of the twin towers, and the rise of power by North Korea. The religion of Islam was forseen and written about in the Bible and God warned us about the thousands and thousands who would be decieved because of their own ignorance. God has warned us in testiment has he not?

Every time some event or series of events occurs that some can't find or understand a rational explanation for, the crackpots start with the same old "prophecy" nonsense. This time it's Iraq and North Korea. In the 50's and 60's it was the USSR and China. Before that, WWI and WWII. So it has gone for 2,000 years while millions and millions have gone to their graves believing that they were living in the "end times" and without realizing the "rapture" that all the signs indicated would occur in their lifetimes.

This stuff is nothing new. It's just a way for cult leaders to bolster their positions and power within their organizations by terrorizing the gullable.

Asslam Alekom,

Man,

I think what the pastor ,and then what you belived in , is NOT TREU .
ALLAH warned us from the bad actions done by non-belivers of Islam , before telling us about the actions that happened in your country , let's remmeber what are happening in Palestine from 60 years, how many people was killed & injuried ? by a tribble way ? It was done by Isreal and it's main supporter USA and
other europianin countries , and many bad examples done by USA and it's supporters in the Middle East , do you think those people will not talk or do nothing ? NO , they have the right to fight and defined over themselves .

But , One important thing you must know, Islam denouces terrosim , and what done in the fall of the twin towers - if it is true done by bin Laden- , you must read the real history about how the islamic fights was done , not to kill and old man, women or boyes, not to cut trees or destroy the churches or others just fight who wants to kill them , that was the testmenet of the WORLD PROPHET MOHAMMED (PUBH).

I advice you to think more in the world and what is going on , and to read more in Islam from a trusted and good sites about Islam .

People have been saying that forever. Whatever is going on at the time seems to fit right in to the prophecies about the end of the world. Now is no different. I remember 15 or 20 years ago it was about the Soviet Union and nuclear holocaust, and look what came of that.

You should read the bible more critically, the actual book of revelations that you appear to speak of, is a lot less detailed about these thing than your pastor would have you believe. For many thousdands of years christians have thought they were living in end times. In fact the author of revelation believed it would happen DURING HIS LIFE!

Also there is a great deal of evidence that John was not even the author or revelation. He was more likely a jewish man from Judea who was a refugee from the roman invasion, and that relevation was a hadbook of political protest against the bad thigns that were happening to him and his people, that the beast was caesar and that the 666 referred to a number printed on roman coins of the time, (representing the medium of exchange by which the evil romans acquired their goods.)
It is temping to use revelation as a context to interpret the bad things that are going on today. Peple have been doing this for thousands of years. We are inclined to see the events of day to day life as the hand of god and our emminent destruction, but this is based on ignorance.

People have use the words in the Bible to justify a lot of things. It's written vaguely enough that it could apply to just about anything.

People see reasons in it for killing black people. It was used for centuries to justify the invasion and slaughter of native people around the world.

I'm also pretty sure there have been a good 100 times that someone has read into it when the world is going to end.. 1800,1900, 2000...

Your pastor was just doing the same thing - interpreting a vaguely written text.

Take any text in the world of sufficient length, and I'll find you similar "prophecies."

You know, if you fold a dollar bill in a certain way, it creates an image of the Twin Towers going down in flames!

All these things are ink-blot tests. Nothing is simpler than reading your own interpretations into "scripture." Weak-minded fools - I won't say "like yourself" - are always in danger of being deluded. Why do you think the Apocalypse is the all-time favorite text of insane people?

Ohh yeah, I remember in the Bible it says "And verilie, Dubya did march upon Babylon, and didst crush them mightily" and "Yae, the mighty towers of the marketplace did tumble" - oh, no, wait, it doesn't. Anywhere. At all. Don't you think people have been saying this for 2 thousand years? "Oh those Mongols are invading again, it's a sign from God!", "This bubonic plague was sent by God to punish us all, repent ye sinners!" What precisely makes this time different?

It would have been more intelligent to quote the verses from the bible which reflects the happenings of today, as your pastor presumed.

It's not God's desire that any should perish. He has poured out His love on the cross, but few will come because it seems like foolishness to the world. One day however, the deception will be removed from man's eyes. It could be today, but for most it will be too late, at death.

What verses covered the World Trade Center, North Korea, and such...?

I dont' recall seeing those verses.

Do you often see faces when you look at clouds? I can show you one in just about every single one of them. Whether you buy my interpretation or not is the question.
