I was accidentally splashed with boiling water and now have a 2nd degree burn on my lower left back/hip. Is it possible to swim in water with cholrine in it with a burn like this, or would it cause more damage? Thanks for answering my question!

As Bimble said you would be at risk of infection.

If it is a second degree burn you should have dressing, to protect you from infection.

Your skin is a protective barrier to infection, and any loss of skin, however small, is susceptible to infection. With a second degree burn you have lost the top layers of skin, called the epidermis, and extends to the deeper layers of the skin called the dermis. If a blister is present, DO NOT BURST THEM! If the blister has burst, you need to cover with a clean sterile NON STICK gauze dressing over the wound.

Despite what people think chlorine DOES NOT kill all bugs etc in the water, even the best of kept pools. Pools have to have regular tests, checking chlorine levels, PH levels and alkaline levels at lest every 3 hours. Then you have to have well maintained pool filters.

i used to be on team, your fine swimming with it. However if you have blister you want to be careful not to burst it, won't harm anything if you do but burns hurt when the blister burst. Also the chlorine will keep it from infection

I would not risk it, just to be on the safe side. Second degree burns mean there are blisters, and those, you do not want to burst. There are natural antibiotics in those blisters, and popping them would be very bad news. So, just to be on the safe side, I would not advise it. But, that's completely up to you.

there is so much chlorine in public pools that you won't have to worry about an infection.. but you probably won't be very comfortable.. it will hurt to move it and if it the blisters are open it will probably burn like crazy.. i'd recomend staying dry and letting it heal but it's your choice in the end

I think you should be fine, but if it is too uncomfortable you shouldn't push it.
