I bought my last car at CarMax - but it was a new vehicle (they had used as well as new), and I can't recommend them to enough people for the buying experience. Found my vehicle right on the internet, called to make sure they still had it, took care of all of the pre-financing over the phone, only a $99 "Dealer's Fee" (at least at that time...may have gone up since then...believe it or not, Dealers will charge hundreds of dollars for this mysterious fee but don't expect to get an explanation of exactly WHAT it is for), so that in the end, all I had to do was come in, test drive the vehicle I picked out, sign some paperwork, and ride off in my new vehicle...in and out in under an hour and no pressure.

Excellent. Got a new pickup from a dealer who has made it a practice to gain only a minimum profit for his dealership. He passes on any rebates etc to the buyer, and his profit is only minimal above the lowest invoice price minus the rebates, etc. The price he lists on the windshield placards is the lowest price he can sell the car or truck for, so no haggling is involved at all.
I was in an out of the dealership in about 20 minutes on the day of the trade-in and purchase.

They are all a rip. I buy used cars now cash, and save money. Its crazy to sink money into something thats going down in value. I bought a house and land, with the savings of having a car payment.
Some people will never learn, and try to out do their neighbors.

Terrible!! It literally took me all day, and then the dealership tried to change out the wheels and tires on my 4x4 truck for smaller ones! Ugh! And we only have one dealership of each brand in the city where we live. I'll have to drive 150 miles away to purchase our next vehicle.

It was a General Motors dealership I was buying a Chevrolet Malibu. I paid a good price for a good car. I would buy another from them.

Very good. I got a price on line through the internet sales dept., then went to the dealer and inspected and purchased the car.
No haggling, no problem, and no DAMNED SALESPERSON!
DOC, it's ok to buy a new car if you typically keep them for 10 years or more, like I do. THEN, you get your money's worth.
