I dont know but we in UK were also oppressed for three hundred years before the industrial revolution. Our people starved in the street and were killed by the soldiers who did the dirty work of the so called aristocracy.
Please re read your history as the english people were not responsible for the problems suffered by the irish !!! If you check carefully you will find that the ruling classes were from other parts of Europe such as Germany.

I'm guessing you mean ogive (if not disregard the rest of the answer). It's generally a curve or a curved surface. In my line of work (statistics), it's when you smooth or curve out a cumulative distribution function. In engineering, I think it tends to refer to curved surfaces that end in a point, like at the front of a bullet.
