Lambrusco - it's an Italian variety of red wine that is really smooth and sweet. It also has less of what makes red wine taste bitter - tannins. It is relatively inexpensive - less than $10 per bottle. I think that Riunite makes a variety, although I am sure there are others.

You could also try dessert wines. Any variety of red that is a dessert wine is going to be sweet.

If you want sweet red wine, drink Boons Farm. It comes in a jug and is strawberry flavored. if you want a real red wine, drink a cab!

Manischewitz is very sweet and good. My mom used to let me sip it when I was a kid :oP
I haven't had any for a long time though. Last time I bought some it was around $15 a bottle.

There is a local winery (Southern INdiana) called Oliver Winery. Their "soft red" is sooo good and sweet. it's only about 10 dollars a bottle, too!
