Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

Keep in mind this is simply the inscription on a statue given to the U.S. by the French. It does not circumvent our laws.
In answer to your additional details statement, I do not claim myself to be an immigrant hater. All of us hail from immigrants except for the American Indians! What I DO object to, are those that enter our country illegally and are NOT paying taxes. They are reaping the rewards that should be reserved to those that contribute to the system.

Wrong. Anti-illegal is not Anti-immigrant. The US is very fair, just be fair with US. People of the US will embrace any and all who embrace the US.
Immigrants who passed the Statue of Liberty, signed in at Ellis Island. They wanted to be American. They didn't come waving the flag of the country they left, nor did they boast false pride. They swallowed their pride the day they decided to leave their birthplace. They set off on a journey, far more dangerous than any immigrant today. They wanted to be Part of America, not Separate in America. These immigrants left their homeland because their homeland could not provide for them. When they arrived in the New World, they worked hard and worked with others. For most, returning home was not an option, even if it was, they chose America as their new home. Those immigrants left a life far worse and arrived to find a much greater struggle, than immigrants coming today. Back then, jobs were few, so they created new jobs.
So you tell me: Do the majority of illegals coming today, expect jobs to be provided here OR expect "here" is where they can create/provide jobs.
Today it seems, that most illegals come to the US for a better job opportunity. Back in day, immigrants came to the US, for the opportunity.
If a better job is all the opportunity you see/want from the US, you won't see and won't get anything from the US. Anyone content with the job they are doing and doesn't see opportunity to do a better job, isn't willing to do what's necessary to create anything better. And if a better job is worth changing locations, be open to the opportunity for both to change your life... for better or for worse is up to you.

But the Statue of Liberty was not about immigration,it was about democacy.....
.
STATUE OF LIBERTY
The Statue of Liberty was erected in 1886, when world population was little more than one billion and the U.S. population was 60 million. Many do not realize that the Statue of Liberty was a gift to the U.S. from France, with the title, "Liberty Enlightening the World". The statue and its symbolism had nothing to do with immigration, but rather hope that the rest of the world would adopt Democracy.
Those words you speak of were added 10 years after it was given to the US.
The sonnet, "New Colossus", was written by Emma Lazarus in 1883 as part of a literary campaign to raise funds for the completion of the Statue's pedestal. Not much attention was paid to it until the tide of immigration surged at the turn of the century. Proceeds that were raised from its auction were used to complete the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. This plaque memorialized the sonnet in 1903 and was placed on the inner wall of the Statue's pedestal. It currently is displayed inside the Statue of Liberty museum.
Since then, U.S. population has expanded by 4 1/2 times. The U.S. is the world's highest-consuming (and most wasteful) nation, and is no longer in need of settlement.

No one confuses that with the tens of thousands rejected at Ellis Island or that it has nothing to do with illegal entry.
What's missing on the bottom of that are the House and Senate signatures and the President's making it law.
In 1875 the Western Frontier was declared closed. In 2006 the Immigration Frontier is closed.

Sure, enter according to our laws, acquiring your permission to enter our country before entering and you are very welcome here. Choose to actually make decisions that help you become a coherent part of the society as a whole, like learning the language, and you are most welcome here. My only real question is and has always been that if the things I just stated were good enough for my grandparents then why are they not good enough for current immigrants?

There aren't any anti-immigrant people in The United States - there are a lot of anti-illegal-immigrant people though.

Weak argument. The inscription on there is a poem. It is not a law or a part of the constitution.

They only complain about the current wave of 'criminal' illegals....But what about all the criminals who came from Europe? All the Italian, Irish and Jewish gangs, that invaded this country came only for criminal purposes and to terrorize people....Many are descendants of those criminals today....Shhhh, lets not talk about that one...
