I do not feed my cat people food. No matter how much it costs I am going to feed him food meant just for him.

Maybe, but bear in mind that unlike dogs, cats cannot produce their own taurine (a particular amion acid required to synthesise proteins), and can only aquire it through meat.

I suggest poached chicken meat, lightly cooked beef or lamb mince or fish. Tuna is a real favourite and it has reached the point where I can't open a can of it in the house without being mobbed. They also have thing about cheese, too.

If your cat is a golden oldie (8 years plus) your should reduce it's meat intake a little and add a small mount of carbs- like rice or pasta- as older cats are prone to kidney problems and too much protein exaccarbates this.

On the whole, though, feedin cats a balanced 'human' diet is far more expensive than buying cat food- apart from the odd treat, I'd leave it to the experts.

Well People food won't be any cheaper. In fact I know some street people that buy cat food and dog food cause they can't afford meat for people and they don't want to be without meat!
Cheap cat food brands: regal, crown, sunspun,
Western Family, A&P, Select, 7 Farms, True Coop, Smart Choice, Value Priced, and no names. (Actually Value Price makes Smart Choice nowadays!). Sunspun makes many President Choice foods. Well there is rice in many cat foods same with cheese. So I would say rice or cheese is good for Cats. Which is human food. As far as I'm concerned
I believe there really is no meat ment for humans by a vegetarians view point! Meat is for Animals. Most meats best for cat tend to be
Chicken or Turkey. Cats catch fish because it's just because they can do so. Halloweens coming up getting your cat a treat.. Catnip wrapped in Chocolate for cats. There is special Chocolate made for cats. It's in Cat stores and usually in the shape of a mouse. It's
a treat for them. It's something they can play with then eat. Cats nature is to play with their food. Actually we people do that do play with our food until Mommy says "don't play with yoour food.. Your not a cat are you?" Well that's what my Mom said to me when I was a child! I use something pretend the pizza was a boat. Or the Slice of cake was a car or truck
I played catch with apples. Sorry about getting off topic. Well if you need to spend less on cat food.. get it wholesale and be a distributor and make money and sell it to others. Why pay retail if you don't have to? I sold cat food to people that wanted it to use for their own consumption. I wouldn't sell anything my cats rejected. The rejected stuff was given to the Free Food Bank for the poor. What they do with it is not my concern! Maybe they use it in their stew. You never know! Actually many cat foods are healthier than food sold for people consumption!
Oh if I get to be either Prime Minister or President.. I promise to remove Pet Food Tax.
Reason having a pet is good therapy.. Pet food tax was suppose to help Animal Societiesy
Like Humane Society or SPCA but they never see a penny of that tax so I heard!

cats are aniamls therefore they need animal food aka cat food. The cat doesn't need the rolls-royces of cat food jst the ordinary will do. Trying downsizing the portions to make the food last longer if this helps. Truely wouldn't recommend making ur own though as cat food has all the nutrional requirements and if u make ur own u can't gaurantee that u'll be giving the cat that. It could make them ill and u don't want that. I have a cat myself so this is frm personal experience.

As cats are carnivores: any form of cooked meat.

Growing up, there was no cat food for sale where we lived. The cats thrived on fresh fish, poultry, beef and pork. Their food was bulked up by adding cooked rice to it. Rice and meat were mixed well, moistened with water or soup if needed be. Otherwise, a whole fish was only good for 1 meal per adult cat. The only raw meat they had was an occassional unfortunate adventurous mouse.

Those cats were healthy and fit and lived an average of 16 years.

Any food in moderation, will not fatten up any creature. Please base the cat's servings to its activities. Sedentary cat = smaller portions; active cat = bigger portions.

Do NOT...feed your cat tuna/canned tuna..tuna in a bag..no tuna. Yea..it's a nice little treat once in a while however is not good for your cat and neither is milk. Tuna and milk is a cartoon thing and should be left at just that...cartoon/categorizing. You should buy the cat cat-food by age...there's a reason why they call it cat-food and human food .. well, human food!

If you are thinking of feeding your cat on a regular basis with human food, I would not suggest it. Cat food has what a cat needs in it, all the nutrients and vitamns. More than likely, making your own "human food" mix won't have those in. Also, feeding cats human food tends to make them on the more "plump" side. Stick to the bagged stuff.

The home-made diet of raw meat I make for my cats is not cheap as the meat is organic chicken and turkey (no hormones or antibiotics). I also buy a supplement powder for the meat to provide additional vitamins, calcium, salmon oil etc.

Of course it is the best possible diet. You can go to www.catinfo.org to read about quality diets to make. Also at www.ThePetCenter.org has excellent articles on what cats need in their diets. At www.littlebigcat.com Dr. Jean Hovfe has an article titled "Easy Homemade Diets for Cats and Dogs" and many other articles on feline nutrition.

Personally i use canned cat food and mix it with dry cat food. It's better for them then just the moist canned stuff. Tuna also goes over well.
Any gravys that you have can be mixed with the dry food as well.

Mice. Just kidding. Fish, I think. But, I'd make sure all the bones are out if you buy a whole fish from the grocery store. Otherwise, I'd agree with tuna fish in can. No chance of bones there. And cans of tuna are PACKED with protein. Bodybuilders buy cans of tuna like mad cuz they are so cheap and so chocked full of protein. I should know. I am one. But that has no relevance. Good luck.
