Does anyone know what in tea would cause my throat to swell and give me hives?

have you tried loose leaf tea? you might be allergic to the bag the tea is in (a lot of them have trace chemicals) and not the tea its self.. a warning though.. loose leaf tea is much stronger than store bought tea.. so if you are going to try it, don't drink much until you are sure you aren't going to have a sever allergic reaction.

Allergic to tea? That's so funny? i think you're not allergic to tea, but at the plant's essences that you or your mom put in your tea. So pay attention at what you put in your tea!!!...

It's very possible. I'm allergic to some herbal teas, such as those with chamomile and dandylion.
