How high should I install my backsplash behind my stove?

I want to tile the wall behind my stove up to the ceiling. A hood is not in the budget yet but I want to fill the space in the meantime. Has anyone done this?

we do it all the time.....we tile up to the ceiling..........u can change he pattern or the tile color in the middle to add contrast...

I just got a big piece of heavy-duty glass that was a bit taller than the space and a bit wider than the stove and mounted it on a channel track.

That way I could just wipe it off and not have to worry about grout and junk sticking to said grout.
