You are talking about the Jungian concept of the collective unconscious? Jung proposed that there are things that "get into the water" and that we all know without having been directly taught them. That is, the sum of human knowledge and experience--Jung believed--sort of has a life of its own, and "injects itself" into all minds by way of...I don't know...cosmic osmosis, or something.

There are merits to Jung's theory. (I have done a so-so job of explaining it, by the way. You should really read what the doctor had to say about it himself to gain clarity.) Who knows if it is true? It is interesting to learn about, in any event.

I believe that it is Jungian like they were saying above.

Having heard it refered to by people, I kind of see it as this cosmic dimension where we connect and yet you can't see it or explain it. Like a phone call from who you were just thinking about. Feeling grief at someone's time of death without really knowing they died. It goes beyond what we see or hear...our feelings or senses read into it and connect.

Jung seemed to really be interested into what lay beyond the mind or it's connection to the world unseen. Not so sure how modern psychologists take that.

it was a theory put across by Carl Jung a former student of Freud
that we are all connected and everything in the universe is connected
he applied this theory to dreams ... that our dreams hold archaic symbols that have been around since the beginning of man and this explains why certain characters and symbols appear in dreams worldwide
if you research Jung i think you will find it a great subject xx

Collective conscience is when many people believe in a certain thing. Many people is the "collective." What they believe is the "conscience."

Some have theorized that if enough people believe then we can bring something into existance. Such as, if everyone really believed in Santa we'd eventually have some dude running around in a sleigh pulled by deer.

There is one mind. "One" does not imply limit. In this case (the only case that matters), the One is infinite, with unlimited expression and creativity, even the ability to make the unreal seem real, as God's Beloved did when he projected the physical world and its effects, which have no bearing on reality, for nothing unreal exists.

It is the idea that our minds are part of some collective entity, something like computers on the web all connected virtually.
