My sister just quit her job and now she says that she isn't going to look for a job for an undetermined amount of time. She wants to be a housewife, but she doesn't have any kids at home! She probably won't have any more kids either. She's 44 and already has a grown daugher from another marriage.

I think it's wrong not to work; it weakens your character.

Why not! Women did it for years. I think its very important for a woman to take on this role - even without children. There is a lot of pride for a woman to take care of her home and her husband.

Of course, she will have to assume the lion's share of the housework and cooking. If she does this, then she should feel proud of doing honest work.

That is something that should be worked out between your sister and her husband. I don't think that it is wrong for her to stay at home and be a housewife. Being a housewife doesn't mean she has to be taking care of kids. Being a housewife means taking care of the house and her husband. If he doesn't have a problem with it then you shouldn't either. I have done both and personally I enjoy working out side the home. It builds character and definitely gives me more confidence.

I don't think it's any of your business. This is obviously something she and her husband have talked about and it's their decision to make. At 44 years old, for her to have an adult child it means she must have become a mother fairly early on. She deserves a break and if her husband is willing to allow her that, then by all means mind your own. Taking care of your home is not laziness. Maybe if you had more to do with your own time you wouldn't be caught up worrying about how other people spend theirs. Sorry you're so miserable.

If she and her husband can afford for her to stay at home, then why not? There is still a lot of housework that needs to be done daily, whether there are kids there or not. She might take on some volunteer work or something else she would enjoy doing.

It is not immoral nor does it weaken your character. If she and her husband can afford for her to stay at home and tend to the houdehold then kudos to them. You simply need to butt out. Now if there comes a time when they are asking for money to help pay bills or something then maybe you could say something. Until then BACK OFF!!!

Buffy, don't judge your sister. If she can afford to stay home, don;t beat her up about it. It is not immoral. She wants to go shopping and the malls are probably pretty empty during the week. She can beat the christmas rush.

Hell no. Give me the chance to not work and I'll jump all over it. Your just jealous. Why should she work if she doesn't have to ? She can strengthen her character in other ways. Again, stop being jealous.

It's not immoral. Can she afford to stay home. If so, she should enjoy it. As long as she's taking care of the home.
