The strength of will to live must come from within. I can assure you there is no existence after you die; you will be as concerned about not existing after you die as you were before you were born. As such, killing yourself really only serves as an inconvenience to those who have to clean up your mess after you die.

A preferable solution is to start anew. Discard your old life, but not yourself. Move to a new city. Change your hair, the way you dress, even take on a new name. Get a new job. Make some new friends. I'm talking about walking away from it ALL. The effect will be the same as if you had died; indeed, you will be effectively killing the "Old" you that was depressed. We all have the power to start a new life any time we want to. It's simply a matter of setting ourselves free.

UPDATE: I neglected to mention this before, but you may wish to try Atheism. I found when I was a Christian, I would easily become depressed. Much of that depression went away when I discovered Atheism. Suddenly, there was a lot less in the world to get bummed out about; I took comfort in the knowledge that it wasn't some diety picking on me, and that the cosmos had nothing for nor against my existence.

Easy! Because you make a difference! You have talents and gift that no one else have that others need! Even though it might not seem like it now, you are loved more than you know.

Whatever hurt you are going through right now will eventually pass. You are strong and can endure this! I believe in you and believe you will see this hard time through!

Try to get some help. Find somebody who you can trust and who can talk to, even if you need to see a professional.

Don't allow yourself to live like this. There IS hope, believe me! I don't care what other may say or what you may have done, you are a worthy and worthwhile person. Forgive yourself and forgive others and get on with living. There may be some consequences, but you can endure them! In the end, you will be an inspiration to someone else.

Bless you!

Well, I dont know why you are feeling this way, but I can tell you that I have asked the same question many times. I have been told that God put us here for a reason, everyone has a purpose in life, you may be here to help someone else who will go through the same thing you are going through now. I personally think that even though life might suck right now, it cant get any worse, so look at the bright side, it can only get better!!

Because it is the only chance you'll have at life? that seems reason enough.
Think about those that love you and the hurt you will bring to them. (maybe thats what has you bummed...feel like no one loves you?) Look at everything that you have - and everything others dont have.

When Im bummed, I take myself to the biggest nearby city and I walk around....and I see how many hungry homeless are walking around with no hope in the world, and I remember just how good I really do have it.

Please, dont do it. Im an Atheist....but I love you as a fellow human being. You can bring some ggood to this earth.

First of all, suicide is a "solution" that you can't undo if it doesn't work. And I don't think anyone could claim that such a permanent, damaging course of action solves anything. I was on the verge of suicide as a teenager. I'm alive today by the grace of God and have seen the peace He gives us if we just trust Him. Check out the first link below for a little about my life, and if I can help in any way, feel free to drop me a line at chad@jesusfreak.com. You can also find a list of crisis-hotline numbers at the second link. I'll be praying for you. Take care.

Because if you die, your family and everyone close to you will be devastated and confused, and it will be your fault.

Because if you kill yourself, you have taken the existentialist catch-22 and removed yourself from existence, thus rendering your life meaningless.

Because if you kill yourself, you have wronged everyone on whom you could have had a positive impact in life.

And because if you kill yourself, you've given up any chance you had of making things better.

That's why. Also, from nearly any religious perspective, suicide is wrong and has consequences (according to Christianity, you go to hell with the murderers, according to karmic religions, you will suffer the consequences in your next life, etc. etc.). And from the Atheist perspective? There's just nothingness, which is not something anyone should want to run toward. Either way, you're screwed.

I'm not gonna be nice about this, I'm going to tell you the truth and I'm going to be blunt. If you commit suicide, you are a ******* emo idiot. The kinds of people who commit suicide are the kind who should be-- and thank fully are-- removed from the gene pool. Are you worthy of the human gene pool?

Prove me wrong.

Edit: Oh, yeah, and the best way to piss off and defy the people who you hate enough to drive you to suicide is to stay alive, and stay alive in their faces. Make sure they know you're alive and that you hate them too.

I give you only one:

So that you have enough time to find out the reason(s) why you had to be bummed out, and why it was, with hindsight, good for you, because you had learned from the experience.

And so that, later, you can have a good laugh about having been bummed out in the first place.

Believe me, I know about life, and have been there, myself.

Keep well!

Because I care about you and what happens to you. I love you!

God loves you and wants you to be here on this earth. He knew the day you were to be born and He and all the Angels in Heaven rejoiced at your birth. God has a purpose for your life and you will find it if you stay here on this earth.

Please email me tomorrow through Yahoo Answers e-mail system and let me know you are here. I don't want you to go away. I will miss you.

Because life is the only thing you can be sure of. All your hopes, all your dreams, all your joy, all your everything, is in life. As bad as your life is, it has potential to bring you some happiness. You won't find that, or anything else, in the grave.

Of course, if you are a homocidal maniac or a pedophile and feel you cannot control your urges, then you should probably off yourself.

The beautiful music of Beethoven; the wonderful scent of fresh roses; the hypnotizing sound of ocean waves crashing on the shore; a deep and loving embrace from the one you love; the delightful taste of chocolate; petting your dog or cat and feeling their love and loyalty; walking through the woods inhaling the sweet smell of pine...
