we can have inner peace even if the exterior is suffering
it is all about perspective
in the past few years my husband has been extremly ill
my father has died
my mother has taken a stroke
my sister has anxiety and panic attacks
i have 3 children and i have taken time to care for everyone to the best of my ability
how have i coped ?
by seeing how strong i have become through all of this
by seeing how calm i can be in extreme situations
suffering has taught me a lot about myself and also about others
my husband has been so strong and supportive despite his own health problems
my father faced death so amazingly and i admire and respect him even more now than ever
my mother is just wonderful in what she has came through and how she is beating this illness
my sister despite her anxiety would give up any moment of the day to give herself to others
my children ... despite me not being able to give them 100 % attention ... are growing into the best kids a mother could ask for

see what comes from these situations ... how it affects you and others in a more possitive way
there is lessons in everything xx

Well for starters, I think we really wouldn't have peace without some suffering. Peace wouldn't seem all that great if we had never suffered or knew anyother way. But since we have suffered, we don't take peace for granted and it seems a lot nicer. I kind of take that view on everything. Kind of like being happy wouldn't be so great if I had never been sad. When I'm sad I remember the good times, and when I'm happy I remember the sad times. And then I don't take the happy times for granted. Well I hope this makes sense. Good Luck.

By being a member of the Body of Christ we offer up our suffering to the Father in reparation for sin--our own and other people's. It is very hard to watch other people suffer I think that is why all but 1 of Jesus' disciples looked on from a distance. Suffering by it's very nature is hard. The only way to be at peace with suffering is to embrace it and know that it is justice either for our own sins or offered for others. The mercy comes in after the suffering. St. Theres' The Little Flower used to say to Jesus that the suffering was so sweet it was not like suffering at all. (she died from Tuberculosis at the age of 24)

happiness is an emotion, peace is what God gives us which does not change due to our circumstances. Phil 4:6-7 tells us that God's peace which comes from trusting the Lord will guard our hearts in Christ Jesus. reading the Word brings comfort and allows God to speak to us about life's matters. sometimes it's easier to be at peace with others plight because we aren't the one suffering the trial.

The Bible shows why these conditions exist today Ecc.4:1"And I
myself returned that I might see all the acts of oppression that are
being done under the sun, and, look !The tears of those being opp-
ressed,But they had no comforter, and on the side of their oppress-
ors there was power,so that they had no comforter." Did you know
that it also shows what God is going to do to bring us rielief.Look
at Ps.72:12-14."For he will deliver the poor one crying for help,
also the afflicted one and whoever has no helper.he will feel
sorry for the lowly one and the poor one,and the souls of the
poor one he will save. From oppression and from violence he
will redeem their soul, and there blood will be precious in his eyes"
Also see Dan.2:44.So just a little while longer and God will bring an end to suffering for his righteous followers.

Christ wants our minds to be strong and to be at peace so that we can help those who are suffering.

This is one of those things I couldn’t understand before coming to Christ. How do people work day after day with suffering children or with people dying of cancer and still be at peace.

Christ is our strengthener. He gives the strength and the peace necessary to help with suffering.

humans are nauraly selfish creatures, it is perfectly acceptable for us to want things for our selves. i think at some point in our lives all we want is peace. its what we strive for, it could be the ultimate happiness.

for some people doing all they can to help others may make them at peace. usually when we try to help others our community it puts us at peace. people who generaly do not care about others and don't get involved are more stressed out anyway.

Unfortunatley suffering is part of the human condition, and no matter how eutopian our lives may seem we will 'suffer' at some point.
