He was on CNN two days ago and stated on T.V. the war is wrong and he can no longer support the illegal war. He also said the USA military kills innocent men, women and children. ( Note: He's a combat veteran having spent one tour in Iraq. Do you have any respect for him? )

Yes i have respect for him. None you have seen what he's went through. We should not be over there. You can't blame the man if he's tired of the killing and watching his friends die. I also believe the USA is killing men, women and Children wouldn't be the first time we've done it. I hope nothing happens to him. I give him my full support.

This guy made a big mistake. If he did spend one tour in Iraq and believed that innocent men, women, and chidren were being killed then he could have applied for conscientious objector status and received an honorable discharge. All he had to do was say he was morally opposed to killing innocent people and he would have been allowed to take the uniform off for good. He has dishonored himself, his unit, the Army, the entire U.S. Armed Forces, and his country. Now he's trying to weasel his way out of a sentence to confinement and a dishonorable discharge by trying this case in the court of public opinion. As one who proudly serves in the Armed Forces I have ZERO respect for this man and would spit in his face if given the opportunity.

P.S.: He said he cannot support the "illegal" war -- who the hell is he to decide whether a war is illegal or not? If he has moral issues with it that's fine, but he is NOT the judge and jury here.

P.P.S.: Again, we have ignorant liberals who are so stagnant in their train of thought that they're still using the now VERY tired 16-year-old line "we're fighting a war for oil." How stupid can you get? Have oil prices gotten any better since we sent our troops in? For crying out loud, get some new material -- at least it'll give conservatives who live in the real world something to laugh at...

He should have tried to get out with honorable discharge, and not abandon his comrads. I Do know alot of guys personally that think it is wrong in Iraq, and yes..they won't admit it,but there is no way they would leave their Soldiers. That is LOW. The war right now is not in the right country and being taken out on alot of the wrong people. We shouldn't be in IRAQ. I am not scared to kick butt where we need to,This is my husbands 4th time to deploy there, and that proves it. Yes,voluntarily he went. Also, for such a "illegal war" why the hell couldn't we have bombed the crap out of the 200 Taliban insurgants at the Funeral..Just because they were in a Cemetary? Well....If we are in a war..that should mean no holds barred. We kick *** when given the chance. That guy that went Awol probably sees this as pointless...we can't win this battle, there is TO much legal crap in the way to kill who we need to when given the chance, and to many innocent people getting killed on the streets for having to do it there.

hmmm, in basic terms because of the fact the army is definitely prosecuting people who pass AWOL as a replace of in basic terms putting them contained in the AWOL database and allowing them to stay in concern until eventually they get that value tag and thn get a discharge, it truly is a controversy? If the army desperate to start pursuing the dep. who won't deliver out as a replace of in basic terms ignoring them, i'm optimistic there could be a spin approximately how no one is becoming a member of the army. Oh yeah, I forgot, you're nonetheless a poser without certainly time contained in the protection rigidity.

he didn't go AWOL. He deserted. I have no respect for any deserter. If he opposes fighting, he shouldn't have joined the army. The maximum punishment for desertion in a time of war is death. There is not a sane person in the world who can honestly say that they didn't realize that the army fights wars.(Note: I'm in Iraq now, and have no plans to desert.)

He volunteered, he was not drafted.

He thought he could do the job, now he can't or won't.

He is trying to make excuses to justify quitting.

I have measured respect for the work he has done, and I hope he does not have to go to prison.

I am certain he can get off with some kind of lesser punishment, but keep in mind, he is stabbing in the back a bunch of fellow soldiers who were willing to die to protect him in a very hostile situation.

If he wants out, he should be going through proper channels. He should probably get out with a dishonorable discharge.

I definitely have respect for a man that was drunk one time and sobered up to realize the truth. The war is wrong. Half the soldiers there know it but don't want to admit it. They would rather come home with a "hero" tag for their girlfriends. Gives them something nice to talk about round' the supper table... And brownie points with the Mother in law...

Sorry the war is not illegal. Congress gave the President their aproval to go to war and the President did. He will be reduced in rank to the lowest rank for an enlisted man and serve time in the stockade. This is only right.

Very little respect for he turned his back on his men and ran. There are legal ways to deal with things, he chose a cowards way. Yes he should be in prison for breaching the UMJ
