I just purchased an Olympus E 500. I really enjoy it. But when I take pictures in dark areas the flash goes off a couple times to ajust the lens (I dont know what this is called). Is there any way I can turn that off?

Hey jackbauer...,

I looked for a manual online. Nice camera by the way. That is a combination of the Auto-focus and flash. You will need to look at the users manual. You might muttle your way through the menu to find that feature. I would start with the users manual, "when all else fails, read the directions" my father use to say.

Nothing is wrong with the camera... I own the 500 myself and all that the camera is doing is flashing for red-eye. You can turn the feature off, but beware you will now have to fix all the red-eyes in the crowd. I recommend keeping the feature on. This camera is sophisticated enough that if you have it on AUTO you will a;most alwsy get the best picture. You spent enough money on it that it should work it wonders for you with you having to give little effort. Good luck!
